Sweet! I step out for a second and....
« on: November 25, 2009, 03:45:58 PM »
...this.  :o :o :o Nice work on the design, dude!

Anyway, just an update on what I've been up to:

1. I've mostly been working on my site, when I'm not distracted by Facebook.  ;D ;D No, really, I'm working with my wife getting the business side straight. I haven't started up when I wanted to, but the goal is still there.
2. I got my new camera (a Canon 7D), so I'm excited to start taking some pictures again. I only plan to get one extra lens: the 50mm f/1.8.
3. I just ordered a Sony UX390N to replace my Fujitsu U820. The Sony has an Intel Core Solo, which I plan to upgrade to a Core2 Duo, and install a 320GB harddrive. This should give me enough power to do video and photo editing on the go. The Atom chip in my U820 isn't powerful enough for what I'm doing. (If anyone wants to pick it up, I'm posting it on Ebay next week after I get everything transferred over to my new computer.)

28mm to 135mm. f/3.5 - 5.6. You probably saw the couple photos I've taken with it so far on Facebook.

The flower pictures were taken with my old camera: the Rebel XSi. The log pictures were taken with the 7D. I do plan to get some filters. There's a 3-pack with a polarizer, neutral density, and UV by Hoya.

I have a filter for 35 mm,  I should really get one for my telephoto.

You guys and these super cameras.  All I have is a Kodak Z812 IS.  It takes good pics though.  I'll have to post the frog on the patio pic.

How big are the files when shooting in HD? I saw you had to split the song up.

Dude! My 8gb card can only hold 24 minutes of video!...but it'll hold about 900 pictures. I plan to get a 64gb chip.

I moreso split it because of Youtube's 10 minute limit.

Wow, I only have a 4gb card. But it was impossible for me to watch your clip in HD without it stuttering....and this connection should be pretty fast.....

...and I compressed those videos twice into OGV format! The final clips that I uploaded were about 20x the number of minutes in MB.

wow. I dont plan on compressing mine. I'll probably be shooting in 640, as it allows me to shoot continuously for 20 minutes as opposed to 5 minutes in 720.

You also might want to raise the f stop a bit, as your left hand wasnt completely in focus on one of the clips.

For those that are wondering, I'm willing to part with my Fujitsu U820 for $600. This will include the $100 docking station. On Amazon, the package retails for $1300....$900+ on Ebay....just for the computer.

I noticed that too...didn't feel like fixing it.

I also broke up the clips so I wouldn't have to edit them. I just compressed them then uploaded. I did them in 1080@30fps. It does a few other formats as well. There are some really good clips on Youtube of people using it to make movies.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I wanted to get the opinions on these photos from our residents photographers.

I took these on my back patio one night just testing out the night quality of my camera.  It is an 8.1 megapixel camera, and it has some pretty good features for the money.  Also please notice the texture of the concrete and how the frog mimics the texture in it's skin trying to camouflage itself.  I was quite amazed by that.

Nice. I personally would have gotten down on the ground so the camera would be eye level with the frog. I would also zoom in on it. The frog should fill up much of the frame  example: ( http://farm1.static.flickr.com/37/105163604_ebcf69a9a6_m.jpg ) It doesent have to be that much though. And you have to take that time stamp off.

I like that you were shooting on (A) or Aperture priority mode, I use that mode 90% of the time. I usually use the lowest aperture (F stop) number possible, that helps isolates the subject from the background.

I added You as a contact on Flickr. I hope to see more from you soon. If you want any more suggestions you can pm me.
