LOL

Indeed. Are there any Christian artists that give away free music? I know there are secular ones.

Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

You can't/won't find any. You can find chord charts where other people post chords, but no actual sheet music.
Real musicians play in every key!!!

Is this for church, private worship or Bible studies, or outreach/services in public venues?

You can freely use anything written before 1922 without paying royalties or violating copyright....that is the US definition of Public Domain...see this page for a list...

Dover Pub. also puts out reprints of sheet music at reasonable cost - you can find them and some hymnals at the local bookstore or library...

So that must be the reason why so many artist can do 50 different versions of Christmas songs and it not be a big legal issue or anything.

Yes. Virtually all popular christmas songs are public domain songs.

FOUND IT!
That was almost funny :-\

Anyhow, I was seeking someone on LGM whom had a trusted website or list of references.

My expectation was a seasoned musician or song writer would know this info, because he/ she are careful to avoid copyright infringements :)

Pray for me :'(  I am a "newbie" music/ song writer.  I am in the process of revising some old hymns, and I would like to do it legally :)

Most classic Hymns and Spirituals were written before the 1920's, so you don't have to worry too much about adapting songs like "Go tell it on the Mountain" or "Amazing Grace", they are Public Domain.

But many Gospel songs were written from the 1930's onward - so you do have to hunt for author/publisher info.
Some go to www.harryfox.com to research and obtain mechanical licenses (for recording a song). Print Licenses are another thing; you need one to publish an arrangement of a song that is copyrighted, and for that you must go to the writer and/or Publisher...
