buying a Nord Electro 3 and i was wondering if any of you knew some of the ups and downs of it

Ups - its light - good organ and electric piano sounds

Downs - its red - doesent have real drawbars

I dont think I'd buy one though

not for a keyboard. The wood veneer that comes on the other boards look 100 times better.

If you like Electric Pianos (Rhodes, Wurlys), there's no better keyboard.  The EPs on that thing are HEAVENLY.

If your church has a real organ (B3, C3, A100) then you, obviously, wouldn't dare use the Electro 3's clone organ in your church.

However if you regularly travel to other churches and they DON'T have an organ, this would be a nice substitute.  I really do like the Organ sounds on this board.  I think they're as good as you'll find.

Unlike under13, I actually like the color.  But like under13 I dislike the digital drawbars.  Fortunately I think you can create shortcuts to organ registrations you like to save time.

'cept for maybe this:  it has a few limitations but I love it, and if you can find one its a great performance board.

I would rather get another Electro 2 than to buy an Electro 3. I was playing around with a NE3 and it's not as user friendly as the NE2. The digital drawbars shouldn't be a complaint at all because once you start using them they come natural, in addition to that you can preset a great deal of drawbar settings. The red case definitely sticks out and Nord hit the nail on the head with it, anywhere you go you can spot it from a great distance and know whomever is using a Nord and not some other clone. I personally like the red case as well.

let me give more insight into what im using it for...i would use it mostly for touring and gigging with my jazz group
