Asking prayer for my sister
« on: January 27, 2010, 02:46:21 PM »
I have a sister who's been battling cancer. They have changed her treatments several times to try and stop the cancer. All this to no avail. Yesterday she took a turn for the worse. She was taken to the doctors and sent home. I went by to see her last night...it wasn't a good sight. She's lost about 20 pounds in two weeks and she is in extreme pain. She could hardly talk.

She's been fighting this for two years. At one point she was doing well and then a few months later, the cancer was back and spreading. For the most part she has tolerated the treatments fairly well. But since they weren't really working they changed her to a stronger treatment. It's effects are brutal. I won't go into details about what it does to her body but she has been so strong thru it all. Even when she was in the most pain she has continued to push on. Even while on Morphine and oxycontin she was still manage to come to church and work periodically. She may not have been "all" there but she was there.

This is the first time I've really seen the effects of cancer. I've always heard but never witnessed it. Watching my sister go thru this is like watching a candle burn out.

Today her doctor is going to admit her to the hospital. I think that's good cause they can make her feel more comfortable and doctors can be right there when she needs them.

I guess I said all that to say this...please keep my sister Charlene Siddell in your prayers. Please remember her name and speak it as you pray... and I thank you in advance. I know this is one place where I can count on prayer... :)

I didn't mean to go on like that but I guess that's one way for me to deal with it. :-\

Thanks yall.  It's mainly difficult cause the last couple years or so we've kind of been at odds with each other. I don't know exactly why. She's the oldest and I'm the youngest so that may have something to do with it, lol. My niece also says she and I are so much alike and that's why. But right now I am going to tell her as much as possible that I love her.

@ Nessa I'll be sure to keep you posted on her progress.  :)

I called my niece this morning and she said Charlene was a little more alert today. She said she even looks a little better. Her white blood count was 100. When I heard normal was 10,000 I couldn't believe it. That's why any little infection she gets is just about to take her over. But I know that prayers are being heard and God has hold of her hand.
If they can get it up enough by Friday evening, they'll let her come home.

I'm going to see her tonight. Please continue to pray for her recovery. I just thank you all so much. Because I know when prayers go out things happen! And you can tell when people are praying.. :)

I just wanted to tell you all the progress of my sister.

Last night when I went to see her she looked 100% better. Her skin was clear and she had color. Her face was filled back out, it was just amazing. She was even trying to joke and laugh. It just goes to show what prayer can do. She's still very weak. They are even giving her blood to try and strengthen her. She slips in and out of a confused state but she realizes she is doing it. So the doctors believe once her strength is restored she'll be more stable.

So just keep the prayers going up. She can't help but to get better. If God has other plans for her.....than we'll deal with it. But right now things are looking fairly good!

Keep the faith! ;)

And thanks to all of you for your prayers, muah!
