Hi LGM fellow ministers,

I've been a "lurker" to this site for a while now. I've finally decided to start posting and figured why not start with some pics.

I recently upgraded my Lakland 55 01. I replaced the stock bartolini mk1s with a nordstrand fatstack at the neck and a bartolini mk5 at the bridge. I liked both the pick ups so I decided to create a hybrid setup instead of just choosing a pair of one brand. I installed 3 switches one is the z mode switch which is standard on the audere 3Zb preamp, a 3 band mid freq selector switch, and a coil selection switch to activate the coil tap on the neck pickup. It changes the pickup to either single coil or humbucking. The range of tones I can dial in is ridiculous.

***UPDATED WITH VIDEO CLIP***

Lakland 5501

This is my friend/bass mentor/instructor Garrison Hunter of Raleigh, NC testing out my bass. Around 1:09 he switches to the "low z" mode...

Here are a few pics:

This is a pic of the old bartolini mk1s

Taking out the stock electronics

Shielding the pickup cavities

Close up of the new switches

God Bless,

Wow looks like you did nice work.  I like the creativity.  You've got the best of about every world...lol.  Did you have to drill holes for the switches?

Nice. I'm planning to upgrade my 55-01 as well. It has the stock lower grade Bartolini system and I think I'm just going to upgrade to the higher grade US Bart system. I like the Nordstrand pickups but good lawd are they expensive! I upgraded my JO5 with Nordies and an Audere pre!

Yeah, I had to drill 3 holes for the switches. The other holes were they're from the stock pots.

Good choice, you will not be disappointed with the US Bart system. You going with the bart NTMB preamp? I bet that JO5 sounds sweet!!

I still have them. Not quite sure what I'm going to do with them.

All I'll say is EbaY... sold my no name Alvarez p/j's for about $125 and the EMG HZ's for about the same (of course this was pre recession).  With good pics and a low (but good) starting bid, you'll recoup some bucks!
