Korg TR-76 HELP!!
« on: March 21, 2010, 10:11:57 AM »
I recently bought a Korg TR-76 Workstation and DO NOT understand the manual!   I was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with this keyboard and could possibly help me out?   One thing I would like to be able to do is be able to switch around between instruments at the touch of a button, I think they call them banks.   For example, have elecrtic piano one "A", acoustic piano on "B", Organ on "C", and Strings on "D"...so during a service if I need to switch real quick I don't have to acutally punch in the # of the sound I want....Does that make any sense?  I welcome any help...if it gets to complicated we could PM as well....Thanks in advance.

welcome to the joys of "who wrote THESE bleepin" instructions? I have played the TR,but am not all that familiar. But,I did have an M1 for many years and Korgs architecture stayed similar. You have "Programs + Combination" banks for several reason;it's Korgs' way of organization. If it's anything like the M1;similar sounds were grouped ;i.e. if you selected program 010,(Piano)then 020,030,040,050 would be variations or 001,2,3, etc.Same with combis;you have to look at Korgs' list either in the manual, online product support,or users group.Once you understand that, you should be good for the go.

Couple options, pick a group of sounds that you like/don't like;and dedicate one bank for the sounds you want in the order you want, overwrite the sounds already programmed in THOSE spots that you deem "sacrificial".Careful!!!!! if you overwrite Programs;some of those sounds MIGHT be part of something you want to keep!!!That way;if piano is 1,organ is 2,you only switch those 10 spots or so.

You would be better of doing THAT kind of programming to an EXTERNAL storage medium if available,USB stick.media card etc..Check out Korg's online support-they have been pretty decent even when I asked M1 questions Last year-the M1 was out of production in the early 90's.hope this helps!!
