Sample Music... what do u think?
« on: December 26, 2004, 11:39:05 PM »
Hey fam,

I've posted a couple of mp3s online and, if you can hear me well enough, tell me what you think.  On the caribbean track, we played soooo long, sometimes I had to keep it simple.  It started as one song and transformed into a 3 song medley.  The other track has a simple bass line.

Soon, I will post some tracks of just me.

Speaking of hearing me well enough (although those in the building can hear me well; church size under 60 ppl), I'm in need of a nice, yet reasonable amp.  I currently have a 60 watt crate bass amp.  Any suggestions?  In the mean time, i'll check the rest of the board, cause I'm recalling now that someone asked about amps before.

LadyBass,

From what I could hear, the bass part sounds good. The vocals do somewhat over-power the music, though.

Ditto to NewBass in regards to the vocals.  Otherwise, you sound great LadyBass!  I am fairly new to the bass but I have played a little at my church.  I have the same problem with being overpowered by the leslie.  I am still learning all of the nuances of the bass and amp to get a good sound.

Thanks New & Mar  :)

Sometimes I think the sound system is a bit too high, higher than the guitar & bass amps.  My amp is still the least powerful of the three.  So, I still plan to purchase a new one.

I've had some great motivation lately in regards to practicing more and regularly and I am enjoying myself.

LadyBass those two cuts sound tight. Sounds like you're on your way. Stay with it! Be blessed and keep thumpin'.

I like those tracks too. When I was a teenager, a raggae band used to practice at one of the houses around the corner from mine. I think that, and a visit to Brooklyn, is what caused me to like the carribean styles.

I read a post from someone before about playing carribean styles. I'm wondering where you are? Florida or somewhere else? At the church I'm thinking about joining here, in Seoul, they sometimes get an African-type rhythm going on the drums. I kind of liked it!

I was basically introduced to caribbean gospel through my pastor and his family.  Back then his father was the pastor and I met them all thru another church I was attending.  They are from Guyana, South America and at times incorporate that style of music in P&W.  As far as the drums, that's one instrument needed in our ministry, but we do have congos for now.

Hey Lady,

Sounds good.  You're definately an inspiration.  Keep it up.  I am in Baltimore a lot.  I may see if I can check you out sometime.
