That's my beef with mainstream Christian music. You're actually playing for a real purpose now, how about you learn your instruments?!?!

Go to a Christian bookstore and ask if they have anything in the jam band genre... They look at you like you're crazy.

I'm not knocking the Third Days and Audio Adrenalines (wait... Yes I am lol), but why can't they PLAY for God as well?

To me, guitar is emotional. I try to devote that emotion. Why can't they? Personally, it comes across to me like they don't care enough. I may be way off base...

Decemberadio was a breath of fresh air, but no one seems to have followed them there...

I would love to see a Christian Allman Brothers... Why doesn't that exist?

BTW, I started this thread, so if anybody goes "not on topic" you can say I said yes.

Its kind of funny. I was listening to some of my dads old cassette tapes last night, and in all of the songs they had at least one guitar solo. And the really weird thing about it is that those old band's are old pentecostal, super modest, at least knee length skirt wearing, hair in a bun type people (hispanic band just so you know). So those folks are way way different than the world, but they still have insane guitar players.

And now everytime I hear a Switchfoot "the sickness is my self" type song on the radio I get all gung-ho about how that is good music (even though it may or may not be) just cause it's different. Then I start to wonder why you see Steve Vai's and Santana's on the cover of Guitar Player and no Christian artists featured for their shredding "ohmahgooodneeeess the guitar is bursting into flames aaaahhhhh!" skills.

But... yeah. I know what you're saying. Most of the best shredding and guitar soloing is done in the P&W scene rather than the CCM scene.

I've always been upset that the mainstream Christian music seems to always be following, never leading in the area of musical innovation. 400 years ago it was the church that was leading the musical revolutions. What happened?

400 years ago the church controlled everything....not the case anymore.

there are some really good guitar players in Christian music, although alot of them specialize in texture rather than notes per second (something i've really embraced the last few years) there are players who play good solos though...Hillsong/Hillsong United..Desperation Band...New Life Worship...Michael Gungor...Lincoln Brewster...

Third day lost my on that album with that Superstar Jimmy Brown song, so I haven't heard them in a while, but i've never heard more that a snippet of a solo from them, though i've been told it's different live.

I find it kind of funny. There are some churches and denominations who stick to the hymms and organs of old (not bashing on that kind of music, I really do like it) saying that rock and blues and everything is a worldly, ungodly kind of music. I can see that argument for certain kinds of music, but for the most part, rock, blues, gospel, funk etc are styles and should be utilized to their full potential. It seems like certain groups aren't willing to break some Christian ground in music because it is "not of God".

Just so you know, here is my argument for making ALL music not of God. Guess who was in charge of music up in heaven 'till he messed up. Lucifer. Therefore technically, all music is not of God. (just something funny I came up with with my brother).

if it sounds good and inspires you to play who cares what name is on the front?? I'm not trying to say a Line6 amp is on par with a Matchless or a Diezel or a Hiwatt or a Divided by 13....but if a person enjoys it that all that matters. The corksniffermentality that is rampant in guitar forums gets ollllllddddd.

my point being that the "unreliability issue" is largely overblown. if you don't trash your gear in general, then it's going to hold up. My guess would be that the people that are breaking these products are the same people who would break ANYTHING because they don't take care of their stuff.

sometimes you have to look a little deeper than "i see a lot of their stuff that needs repair". is it because they offer a lot of options for a low price so a lot of beginners or young guys buy them before they appreciate them and therefore don't take care of them?? that might also be the reason you see many for sale....people buy them before they know what they want because they have a lot of options and don't cost a lot, then as they grow to know what tone they are after or if they want to step up in quality/brand name they sell them off, like all of us do any piece of gear.

sometimes 2+2 doesn't equal 4....

Allen was never really endorsing the Bogner amps as his go to amp. Your making it out like he was showing off his personal amp choice. He just did a demo the same time a lot of other people did demos for that particular amp. He has always been a big Fender user. Hs has went to a few different amps, Fuchs and some others, but he has always came back to Fenders. He is actually endorsing the Bugera amps though.

And what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? How much does a used Daewoo go for? Look if you want to buy one of these amps then go ahead....just realize that you are buying a disposable amp. Line6/Bugera/eggnator/blackheart...coming to a landfill near you

depends on the model....the 15w Spiders?? maybe...because that's the one someone buys when they are starting out and it's all they can afford and it makes a lot of different sounds. a mature player can get a lot of mileage out of the spider valves/alchemists...

same with Egnater, they make some great, very versatile amps.

much of the arguments for/against certain amps are so outdated it's sad.

I've liked everything of theirs I've played so far.

Every company has to have an entry level amp. They be dumb not to, from a business standpoint.

no JayP, you're not far off....he makes great amps. he just has some built overseas to *GASP* make them more affordable. and somehow that makes them junk and worthless.

i buy gear to play it....not to make ti a collectors item. i'm not concerned with the resale value of my amp in 40 years, i'm concerned with how it sounds and if it does what i need NOW.

the question was if anybody had any experience with these amps and the answer is yes. They are in fact throw away. Just take one apart and see for yourself. If you want a throw away then go ahead and buy one if not then shop some more. That's all that I'm saying.

Behringer has gotten pretty good at making their stolen technowlogy sound pretty good. The problem is that they have yet to make it reliable. The same thing goes for line6. The PCB's are very thin, the potss are cheese and they simply can not hold up to the abuse this gear goes through simply by the nature of what it's meant to do. For home audio or even home studio it's not so bad, but if you have to move it all the time you will have problems no matter how gentle you are with it.

Yet I digress, I'm still waiting for my Marshall Class 5 that I ordered 2 months ago.
Apparently those things are on serious back-order.
If I get it, it will be a milestone event: I have never owned a Marshall amp in 33 years of playing.
