Wow, that's a pretty big security risk.  Like a huge, gaping hole.  Our office copies identity documents, birth certificates, ss cards, all day long.  Pay stubs, income tax info...  it's a gold mine.

The sad thing is that it is not really possible to erase that data from the hard drive. :(

That's the problem, most organizations lease their copiers. When the lease is over, the get a new one. THe old one could go to anybody. It's scary.
