prolly an acoustic-electric, fretless, headless, violin bass.  Seems like he is trying to get as close as possible to the sound of an upright bass without actually playing an upright bass.  but i could be wrong and often times i am.

Thanks.  Ive always been a fan of the upright acoustic bass sound.  Will have to check one of these out.
