I saw a clip on u-tube of Derek Sheridan;with his keys angled forward-almost like a guitar.Compared to the "traditional" way of playing an 88 wtd board-would this give you a better mechanical advantage?
I've never claimed to be a piano player,my weekly 2 hour gig on a Roland RD700 is tough. On B3,I like to play on the ends of the keys, for fast runs especially. On the wtd. boards, since my fingers are not 10" long,I have to move in closer;really use my forearms to dig in.As a result, sometimes doesn't come off as smooth as I like or as fast.
Errol Garner;I see him using some weird hand/finger position(my hands look about the size of his) on the u-tube clips I can find.Oscar Peterson looks like his moves are mostly fingers.
The flatted keys like Ab,Bb,Eb work well for me,I notice C,E,A,G,F allows me to spread my hands out for comping. For example,I play a G 7 chord FG(t) B (index) D (bird),G (pinkie) sometimes adding F A.OK bros-teach!!!!!!!!+ thanks
