Question about Hammond C3 Organ
« on: June 01, 2010, 09:41:04 AM »
While I was playing the organ at church on Sunday, it sounded as if the bass went out completly while I was playing shouting music. When the service went to worship, the organ sounded fine. Sometimes when I'm playing the pedals, the bass sounds like it comes and goes from time to time. Does anyone know what this problem might be and is it able to be fixed? Or should my church look at buying a new leslie?

time  to get a service tech;it could be anything as simple as having pushed the pedal drawbars in to "off" to a short. Not enough info.

I'm wondering if the drawbars need cleaning. As I said, after we went from praise to worship, the bass came back in. Last time the tech came out, he fixed a wire that went to the bass, but he said that shouldn't be the problem. I just wonder why the bass comes in and out from time to time. Thanks for you help doc. I will have to get my tech guy out here.

the only other thing I can think to do,with the organ on and the pedals playing, slide the bench out of the way.Slip the pedals out a bit, move them back in a little to one side ;then the other.I quess if they all went out it's possible a lack of contact from misalignment.Also-check the rebound on the pedals;if they are not adjusted right-that might give you some issues.Don't be wearing your sunday best; you will be on all 4 -those pedals are HEAVY.

The pedal tension can be adjusted by unscrewing the cover at the bench end.You will see the nuts that hold them in place;if I remember it takes a 1/4 nut driver to loosen tighten. Some one described this in the organ room about 1 1/2 yrs ago, search the organ room archives under "pedals" have fun

Thanks Man. Yeah, I had my tech come out a few month ago and look at the pedals. He tighten them for me and fixed a wire on the bass speaker. I'm not sure if I had too much bass during my shouting music, but it went out on me and came back when i started playing worship music. I will try to adjust those pedals some and see if they are aligned right. I called my tech and he said it can't be the wire again. However, we are a church who loves to praise God, so I wasn't sure if the vibration of the bass had anything to do with the wire. When I get back to church, I will try all of these options. Thanks so your help as I am very new to the organ and we just bought this organ the first of the year. It is used and an older organ, so I get worried about every little problem I hear. Thanks again.

This Organ has been totally rebuilt by Paul Studor of Organ Service Company of New Jersey.   Paul Studor was trained in the Hammond Factory out of Chicago.   He was assigned to be the service rep for the east coast New York region for Hammond.  I don't know a man alive that knows hammonds better than he does.   When Hammond of Chicago was sold out Paul started his own service company servicing Hammond Organs.  Paul has been servicing Hammond organs for over 50 years.  He has serviced organs for David Letterman Show, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Bruce Springsteen and a host of other studios and churches in the New Jersey New York area.   This organ is fully guaranteed and if you are looking for a problem free vintage Hammond there is none better.   It is as good as new!   It comes with a full 1 year warranty and with proper oiling it should last as long as if it came straight out of the factory. If you live in our local service area of New Jersey, Greater New York City and the organ will be used and played under normal conditions, we will extend the warranty to 3 years parts and labor!   For technical questions concerning the rebuild or to see if your region qualifies for the extended warranty call 908-735-7552 (ask for Paul).   The Organ includes a rebuilt 122 Leslie.   The cabinet has been dismantled and professionally refinished in original walnut color.   The organ is whisper quiet and would make a great organ for a recording studio, church or home enthusist that wants the ultimate in quality.   A Treck II reverb and Leslie control has been added.   Below are complete specs and details the work that was done.   Please note we can make sound bytes available to serious buyers. Email or call us if you need more information. email us at bissol@pianofarm.com or call (570) 222-5397 or if you want more details concerning the rebuild call (908) 735-7552.
