Ugh!  I love CapriSun! I can't believe this happened.  While I'm not egar to drink CapriSun now I wonder if the mold was there because the store was carrying an outdated box of CapriSun or if it just came out of the factory like that.  I haven't clicked the link yet, but I so don't want to see it.

I just called my First Lady and told her about this, because her dozens of grandkids drink CapriSun.  She said she already stopped buying them, because she had one that seemed like it was rotten or something and when she poured it out there was black stuff in it.  She said she buys the Kool-aid ones because the back of the pouch is clear.

The mold grew due to the packaging being damaged... Either in transport or at the factory...

I like capri suns... and something like this will not stop me from buying or drinking them... I will think twice about opening a package that is sticky or damaged... But I wont stop drinking them... to each his/her own...

Uh, no.  That big nasty thing inside the package, did not come from fluids leaking out... the mold would have been outside of the package and the contents would have leaked completely out since it has been "punctured" long enough to grow a mold "artifact" inside.

I doubt this is the manufacturers fault. I'm pretty sure it the distributors (stores) fault. I was in a grocery store and saw some apple juices that visibly had green mold growing in the jars.

I've bought fig newtons before, that had worms and cocoons in the packages. I've bought cereal with bugs in it.

Most of the time, the stores keep these things on their shelves in one place without dusting or anything. When I see packages with dust or leakages, I pass.

I gotta say...

(a) it doesn't look like mold, to me, and
(b) I'm not clear on how it could've gotten in there like that...

Ugh!  I love CapriSun! I can't believe this happened.  While I'm not egar to drink CapriSun now I wonder if the mold was there because the store was carrying an outdated box of CapriSun or if it just came out of the factory like that.  I haven't clicked the link yet, but I so don't want to see it.

Nope. Her FB page has about 25 pictures, including pics of the carton and the pouch. The expiration date had not even drawn near, let alone passed.

uuummm Nessa, I aint tryna start nuffin... Buuuuuuut... According to what was discribed...

In short, a man was giving his daughter one of the pouches, and it was sticky when he pulled it out of the box. It began to leak so he went to hold it over the sink.

The mold could have gone inside of the packaging... IMO... It may have started with a lil dust might and grew into that big glob thingy... It was probably drawn to the sugar in the packaging and developed from there...

And as someone stated earlier... Most of these stores DO NOT keep their foods in clean dry places as stated in the packaging... Most of them are in it for the money and NOT to sell products you can actually use...

I have gone to a store brought a loaf of bread... Got home only to find that it was molded... Went back to the store and guess what... ALL OF THE BREAD WAS MOLDED!!!!!... I FLIPPED!!!!! I got my money back and made the treck to Walmart.... In short... its all about where these people store the food and how its stored when the store is closed for the night...

What she said.

I doubt this happened at the plant. That would mean a whole batch of the drinks are tainted. It most likely happened after it left the plant. If the carton was sticky, then there could have been a tiny whole in it that let the bacteria in, which was also semi-sealed when the corn syrup dried.

1. One lady just brought up a pretty good point: Because if there was one leak that resulted in a bizarre fractal mold growth, imagine how many smaller, albeit harmless, molds you've probably sucked up unknowingly because they didn't have enough mass that you would feel them through the package?

Now THAT makes me feel ill.

2. (Though it may sound extra-deep or whatever, God has really been dealing with me this year about his intentions for our bodies and taking better care of our temples, etc.), this is all the more reason for Christians to take better care with what we put into our bodies. I think I told y'all yesterday that another lady reported another mold incident with CapriSun within a day or two, and she lived in a totally different state. A commenter on a blog reported that a few years ago, she was at a high school party and half-way through a jug of store-bought tea, a big glob of brown slime came out of the jug... of course this is after others had already drunk half the jug. She hasn't bought tea since.

I think much of these food issues we have today could be avoided if we made more of our own foods and beverages. But yeah, values have changed... and we don't have time for that. We don't have time to fill our bodies with the food God provided for us, so we get a bunch of processed stuff and wonder why we end up eating mold, salmonella, e coli, sand, ungodly doses of salt, sugars we can't even pronounce, food coloring and all kinds of other stuff.

I'm obviously not about to go "back to Eden" with my food consumption. But I can start somewhere. If God be my help, I will make my own beverages... maybe except when I have my semi-annual Dr. Pepper craving. I already started baking my own bread. But seriously, take a look at our refrigerators and cupboards and freezers. Everything we have is processed. We can't even make french fries. We gotta buy those frozen. Everything. By the way, I can't believe I - the Queen of All Things Unhealthy - just typed that. God is really working on me. LOL It's just ridiculous. We need to get our values back.  When I was growing up, we did have Kool-Aid, but my mom made sweet tea, fresh lemonade, orangeade, watermelon juice, fresh squeezed orange juice, and all kinds of other stuff every other day or so.... Nowadays, we don't have time because we gotta work more to make more money to buy more stuff to look more better to get more opportunities to make more money. Where does it end?

And "more better" was intentional.
