I made this for myself .. but I thought I'd share it...
« on: June 06, 2013, 08:54:29 PM »
I have been playing for a while but mostly by ear.. I have never taken the time to really bone up and study.. but I have started to do more of that since I joined a small jazz ensemble with some guys at my church and have been listening to more classic jazz.

I made these charts for myself and I thought I would share them with anyone interested. These charts are not for someone who has no understanding of some basic concepts .. but it could be helpful to them once they grasp those concepts. On the scale charts I included the relationships along the steps of a given scale as in MmmMMmdim  for the Major scale etc.. and I also made those relationships in red so they would coincide with the Roman numerals of the modes and the chord charts associated with them.. The scales all start on the root of C in case you want to study them in parallel but they also have Roman numerals at the top so you can see where they fit in to the major scale to study them in relative relationship. I have read a few threads in here that have helped me to wrap my head further around the whole theory of all this.. For me.. these charts along with other things that I find here and elsewhere all add up to help me get it .. I hope they are helpful.

Below is a link to the full sized charts with better resolution to them. They are in a WinRar format.. I think WinZip will open up RAR files as well.. so will 7Zip..

Link to posters in 12x18 format
