I have been getting people wondering why do I need to practice scales and what are scales are use for?
Scales are the basic foundation for music in all style of music. Scale are the foundation in which all those licks, run tricks, chords, chord progressions, key signitures, and etc derive from. Scales also allow you to present a style for you to be like Jamal once say I believe out of the box. So it is important to know your scales. my advice is to learn different scales as possible not only by memory but as well as application. IU would say at least start off with learning to practice 1 to 2 hrs a day. if you can't do it then practice 20 mins a day and start practicing with a Metronome to keep your rytham and timing. my advice is start the metronome on 100 to 125 and build on it. there are limitless scale you can learn here is a link of some scales you can learn from in whic I have post in the past
