That does not seem correct to me. Usually the 1990's Honda civic and Accord are the most stolen. Unless they are just talking about new cars.
Used to be you could predict pretty accurately what the most stolen would be. Just go back 3 years and look at what vehicles were top sellers and that would be today's highest theft list. Reason for that is vehicle warranties were 3 years, then people had to come out of their pockets for repairs. Stolen parts are a lot cheaper than parts from the dealership.
My personal opinion (not backed up with data) on the Escalade is that the numbers are skewed skewed somewhat by the number of people who shoulda never had one in the first place reporting them "stolen" rather than having them repo'd. OnStar doesn't start tracking the vehicle until the owner reports it stolen, so if it was "conveniently stolen", OnStar wouldn't be called ntil it was lonnnnnggg gone.
