If God Is Willing And Da Creek Don't Rise...

Look out for this outstanding documentary by Spike Lee on New Orleans. It is in two two hour parts. One is the original and the other is the follow up. DVR it if you have to .. but don't let it pass you by.

It covers Katrina and it's aftermath.. and it finishes up with the oil spill. It is a must see for anyone who thinks they know about what has happened in New Orleans over the past 5 years and does not live there.. It is broad in scope and perspective, very insightful and deserves to be watched more than once to get the full impact of the information it contains. Look for it and catch it if you can. If have already seen it share your opinions of it.

I am totally not a fan of Spike Lee's work (nothing personal, I just never liked his style... those roaming cameras, floating people and weird background music, etc.), but I definitely want to see this documentary.

You didn't like "Inside Man" with Denzel & Jodie Foster? That was pretty good.. I'll admit though... his work is different.. but I try to support most black film makers.. This is very well done.. from several angles..

Spike is like a black Woody Allen to me.  Shoot, he even uses a lot of Woody's techniques.  But, he has done some really fantastic stuff as well as some stuff that makes you scratch your head.  I support his work, regardless.

Hey Savnbass, any idea which network this is going to be airing on?

Nevermind.  I looked it up.  I don't have HBO.  I'll wait for it to come out on DVD.

I don't think I saw that movie. I believe the last "Spike Lee Joint" I saw was in the 80s or early 90s. I'm just not into him at all, and since I'm not a movie person anyway, the likelihood of me seeing any of his stuff is close to nil.

Inside Man was pretty good.. I didn't even realize it was a SLJ until the end when I was reading the credits & saw the 40a logo. I was shocked because the usual obvious SPJ markers like the camera angles and of course his dad (Jazz musician Bill Lee) on the sound track.. were not there.. Had it not been listed in the credits I would not have known.. and the movie was good.. with little twists in the plot..
