Elin Nordegren: "I've been through hell"
« on: August 25, 2010, 02:32:24 PM »
In a recent interview, Elin Nordegren, the ex-wife of golf pro Tiger Woods said "I'vee been through hell."

Quote
"I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children," she said.

Of the settlement she received, which neither she nor Woods have disclosed but People estimated to be worth $100 million, she said it wasn't worth splitting up her family.

"Money can't buy me happiness," she said. "Or put my family back together."

I would think if all this was the case, then why get divorced?

Everyone has limits and boundaries. He obviously exceeded hers, so even though it hurt her to divorce, she may have felt she had to since he crossed the line. Perhaps she doesn't believe she signed up for all the work it would take to put it back together again.

I don't know.

I spent a lot of time this past weekend with two friends of mine who are getting married in a few months. They were telling me that the very first question their pre-marital counselor asked them was: so what will it take for you two to get a divorce? We had a great discussion about that. The truth is that a lot of people don't consider the implications of that question as they're walking down the aisle. Some folks actually have a list of things - maybe only one thing, maybe five, ten - that will give them grounds to divorce.  I think people who do are more likely to walk away from a marriage in ruins than to put in the work to fix it.

$100 million dollars!?! With all due respect, she might've been through hell but  I would certainly say she came out with her hands raised. GGFZ!

LOL!!!!  If you gonna be miserable, you might as well go through it with $100 mil...

Seriously, I hope they don't get bitter and petty.  Fact is, even if you choose to bail, you still have to work through all of the emotional and psychological issues and find some common ground where you're able to do what's best for your children and work together in raising them.  Otherwise, you do nothing but damage the children and continue to relive your pain by plotting and devising ways to make the other one pay, or live in a constant depressed state, or some other manifestation of unresolved issues...

I really feel sry for her.  She said she didn't have clue all of that was going on.  She trusted him blindly and was humiliated in a public way.  Now many guys are saying she is getting too much.   One guy on sport talk radio called her Elin NordGAME as if she ran a game on Tiger for the money.  She would have access to much more had they stayed married.  Maybe they can reconcile somewhere down the road but tiger will have to do some REAL changing (not in the Buddist fashion either).

Because he violated his wedding vows......BIG TIME!  The question is that if money won't put your family back together or buy you happiness (although, I can think of a few scenarios where money would make ME very happy  :D); then why seek out so much monetary compensation?

Why not? The law allows it.
Tiger did not want to play by the "rules" of his wedding vows, so now he gets to play by the rule of law.

Tiger's net worth is $600 Million.  Considering the public nature of Tiger's...indiscretions...Elin easily could've gotten half.

I think it's remarkable she only asked for $100 mil.

I just wonder if there was ever a moment where he thought to himself, "this could cost me big time."

... if he did, he pushed it out of his mind until it was over, then probably had remorse... until the next "encounter".  Tiger has a flesh problem.  We all do, but his happens to be in this infamous area... ain't it just like the devil to keep you hidden while your flesh gets the best of you, letting you get away with it a bit...  just waiting for the right time to expose everything...
