I already knew who this was without even watching the video! Bobby Vega is a world class bassist and one of the best (more likely THE best) at playing funk with a pick! He can play all styles extremely well! He has a blast when he's playing and it shows. He can be a little 'showoffy' at times but he can do that! I'd much rather listen to him showoff than cats playing a million note licks anytime!

I hate to say it, but I never heard of him, but I will now be studying his technique. I stand corrected, I can't stand bass players playing with a pick when they haven't studied Bobby Vega.  ;D

Don't feel bad! I didn't know who he was either until Rocco (Tower Of Power) got the boot from the band (albeit briefly) and Bobby Vega stepped in! Holy Cow could that dude play! I was in awe! He was just oozing funk!

I met Bobby at Atlanta Bass Gallery last year. Very down to earth guy.  :)

Bobby did a seminar at a an event called "BassQuake" a couple of years ago in San Jose. He blew me away!
When Rocco Prestia of Tower of Power got sick (liver transplant) a couple of years ago, he got the gig. That says it all!
