The new quartets will be chosen from a national pool of candidates in a highly competitive two-part selection process.
Applications received by the mandated deadline are first reviewed in a blind screening by an independent panel of leading musician-educators. Selected groups are invited to live auditions for a second independent panel, including respected musician-educators and representatives from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Each season, ten ensembles are selected to tour on the Rhythm Road.
