The Yamaha is gone!
« on: November 21, 2006, 04:14:43 PM »
Well folks, I traded away the Yamaha TRB1005. I will be getting a Fender Bassman 400H in return. I will be looking for another bass but I just could not get comfortable with the 35" scale neck and wide string spacing. It just fatigued my hands too much. I'm much more comfortable with tight string spacing and 34" scale necks. I'm eyeballing the Ibanez SR Prestige line. I'll keep y'all posted.

Wow, you let go of a great axe.  I have a TRB1005 as well.  I love this bass.  It feels just right to me.  But also, I'm used to 35" scale necks.  That neck is what made me buy it.  I have medium sized hands, and it feels perfect to me.  But it is all about what's most comfortable to you.
When you've done your very best, do even better.

These basses are on my audition list: The Jazz & P-Bass will both have maple fretboards even though the P-Bass pic has a rosewood FB. The VB is what it is! I'm leaning very strongly to the VB sig.

Wow you got rid of the TRB huh?  The 35" scale can be a bit rough... I have gotten used to mines though...

LOL! Yeah, definitely old thread. I actually went back to 19mm spacing/35" scale. Lakland JO5 & 55-01 basses. I am planning to buy a Fender Amer. Standard 4 string in 2011 as my current gig is playing mostly old school music so I don't need a 5 string. I may be selling the 55-01 to help fund the new bass. I figured out it was the neck on the Yamaha. It's a lot more chunky than the Lakland or Fender basses and that's why I didn't like it. Their necks are more P Bass like. Thick and chunky. Funny thing though. The guy I traded it to said the neck was bowed or something. I can't remember since this was 4 years ago. I no longer have that Fender amp either. I use Markbass and Genz Benz micro amps these days.
