So it's almost time for the playoffs!

A few observations:

I am absolutely surprised that the Bulls have done as well as they have this year. They haven't looked this good since the Jordan days. They are at 51-18 (I think) and have #1 seed to themselves (for now) in the East. They look like a possible title contender right now.

With Rudy Gay out of the rest of the season, I don't think Memphis is as dangerous as they were.

The Thunder with more size looks like they will give Lakers a huge scare, again in the playoffs (if they meet). I mean Thunder game Lakers a scare without the size (took Lakers to 6 games). I think it may go to 7 this year.

Lakers are looking again like the 2-time defending champions! Again I believe that this will be the toughest battle they've had getting the title in the 2 championships (even though you could argue that last year was tough too).

Spurs lose Duncan for a period of time. Will that affect their chances of making far?

What upsets are possible that you can see in the NBA playoffs this year?

What about the Knicks? 7-9 since trade.

Let me make this shawt and sweet. The Lakers are the team to beat and it doesn't matter who get's out of the East or whatever....THE LAKERS WILL 3PEAT!!! The Celtics had the chance but they got rid of the very thing that would have helped them beat the Lakers..(their size..Kendrick Perkins mainly) which I am still ANGRY ABOUT!! ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( :'( :'( :'(

You could see signs of the Bulls making there way back last year.  Derrick Rose is the MVP of the NBA this season.  They have a defense-minded coach in Thibodeau, they are young and hungry.  Did I mention Derrick Rose?  Luol Deng is having the best season of his career as well.  They need home-court advantage to go far in the playoffs, but that's just due to their lack of postseason experience.  They did sweep the Heat in the regular season, and I think it's between them and Boston for the EAstern conference championship.

The greatest thing to happen in this NCAA tournament for Tar Heels was Syracuse surprisingly losing! I did not think UNC could get past Syracuse. Now they may can make it to Elite 8 (need to see who they potentially face) and maybe to Final 4 versus Duke (if Duke makes it that far). But honestly, if all players stay next year (besides seniors....LOL) UNC may could win National Title next year!

Knicks need time to gel and need to play defense. There are some saying that maybe the Knicks need to fire the current head coach and get someone who has a better grip on defense (I even heard someone propose going after the Bulls' current coach....LOL!).

Yeah if Knicks get CP3, it MIGHT be a wrap! But guess what? We may not have an NBA season next year anyway....so we'll see.

Yep, potential labor issues and there's been a rumor about the owners proposing a franchise tag due to these players (like Lebron, Carmelo, etc) leaving their teams in a bunch of mess and not able to compete or have a chance to make it far (even though you could make the case that the Nuggets may still be able to make it kind of far). There's been talk about contraction (eliminating some teams). The bottomline is that the owners want to make it possible for small-market teams to compete.

CP3 + Melo + Amare = Wade, Lebron, & Bosh

Notice that there is no championship in that equation...

If the Knicks get CP3, what are they going to do with Billups, move him to the 2 spot?  Regading their need for gelling on defense, that's a tall order.  Melo has never been known for his D, and Mike D'Antoni is an offensive-minded coach whose teams have never been known for their defensive prowess.  So, if you're looking for NY to become a good defensive team, keep looking.

Especially if the Knicks finish the season below 500 and/or do not make it past the 1st round. I need to see which team they would face in 1st round of playoffs. I think it is the heat, if heat become #3 seed but to be honest #1-3 seed in East is still up for grabs. Some think that Knicks could shock Heat in 1st round. I'm not as convinced but we'll see.

Random: this may be the most exciting playoffs we've seen in NBA the last few years. In my opinion, there is no clear-cut favorite to win it all (maybe the Lakers......maybe). At least 6 teams, in my opinion, are capable of winning it all (Lakers, Spurs, Heat, Bulls, Celtics, Mavericks).
