WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING OUT MUSIC FOR YOUR CHURCH?

LaylaMonroe:

At my church, the choir director is the MOM, and he selects the music. He is open to suggestions/requests if the song is a good fit. The PT leader selects the PT music, and sometimes the MOM/choir director makes suggestions.

At my old church where the MOM was not the director, I think the MOM and director worked collaboratively to select music. They both made suggestions and they each taught whatever songs they selected.

betnich:

As director, I select (and arrange and teach) the choir selections. My goal is to have 7-10 songs memorized and down solid, in case we are called to sing outside the church.

Our PT leader selects the PT music, though he has been known to take requests, or toss it to me if he has a busy week...

TheUpperRoom:

I am the MOM and the musician and I get most of the songs for all the choirs except for the youth choir. I like to let them pick out most of their own songs because that way they really get into the songs more because it's what they really want to sing.

ferrente:

I bring all the songs and teach them. I am the MOM.  Sometimes the leaders will bring me a song they would like to sing.

But, leaders always give me there songs about two weeks before I bring it to the choir.
