I'm not knocking her accomplishments and success. that is all
Wasn't directing my statement towards you, was trying to be generic. That being said I wasn't a big watcher of her show either.

I witnessed a really disturbing display of flesh and ungodliness last night on FB between an apostle and a prophet -- all over the Oprah thing. It was so disturbing. I'm so glad you guys don't act stupid like that.

One made a status saying that Oprah was preaching kingdom principles in the finale and he loved it.

The other replied that we shouldn't get so excited just because someone names the name of Christ and that we should remember what she said about there being more than one way to God/heaven.

Others joined in and it got spirited. The status-maker then said "wait a minute, I didn't post this to start a debate," and said that this was his opinion.

The other person said he was right and she would go start her own status. So she did. Then she made a video expressing her opinion and some might say she threw off on him a lil bit.......

And that's when things got UGLY!!!

The prophet posted a status saying that Oprah is more of an apostle than the apostle will ever be because she has fruit that will remain. He mentioned the works of an apostle and said that Oprah had done them all without the title. She builds, establishes, oversees, edifies, etc. He spoke of Oprah's works and the apostle's lack thereof. He called her a garden tool. :( And said that she has no church, no members, etc.

It was really so upsetting. All over Oprah?? Like for real?? :-\

I'm one of the most stupid people on such matters, once one mentions Christ in his/her conversation in a way I don't understand, everything said or done before and after will be totally wiped from my mind. ;D

Okay, even if you're not a fan, you gotta give props to the lady whose show lasted an impressive 25 years without ever selling out and going the Maury route (who remembers when Maury was actually a decent show?).......

First of all, I have major respect for Oprah and all she does / has done to improve the condition of people, BUT...she really kick-started trash TV.  Maury Povich, Sally Jesse Raphael, Rikki Lake were all answers to the early Oprah phenomenon of bringing on cross-dressers, cheating spouses, and that sort of train wreck TV.  I recall watching an episode which I really believe was a pivotal point in her decision to change.  The show was featuring a variety of sexual deviants and one man went into explicit detail about engaging in an act with his pet.  The next day, Oprah apologized profusely and repeatedly and vowed that that particular episode would never air again.  From that point on she seemed to refocus around women's issues and quality of life enrichment.

Everything from this point on is why I have respect and admiration for how Oprah was able to recreate herself.

She is the ultimate success story, never allowing her status as Black, broke, and female to conquer her determination.

I haven't watched her show since the mid-90s, but I definitely take my hat off to her today. She's a brilliant inspiration, an overcomer, a builder, and a visionary. And she's someone that Black people can be proud of.

Congrats, Oprah. Best wishes for continued success. (As though she's reading this.  ::) :D :D :D)

Oh wow, really? Bestiality??? I never knew that. I was never much of a fan, so it's not surprising that I missed that. I do remember some sensational episodes, but even they were done in a much more respectable manner than what we see today a la Jerry and Maury.

Even so, though, I think if anything, Ricky and Maury and even my beloved Sally :( went that route to try to battle the ratings war; not so much because Oprah did it first. :-\
