What's up everyone? I'm vince im kinda new because I have been on the drum side of lgm for awhile now! Been playing drums for 9 years. Four of those years I wanted to learn piano so last year I started learning. I love playing for God. I learned you can pray all day long God annoint my hands to play for your glory but until you put action behind that prayer you got nothing! But I'm glad to be back on lgm!!! Look forward to chillin and talking with everyone! As a beginner what's help me out big rightnow is HEAR AND PLAY.COM AND YOUTUBE! Free lessons! Their are aaalloott of great free lessons on the internet if you just look. The only lessons stuff I've actually bought is the gospel piano by hal leonard! It's amazing! And I currently own a yamaha cdp-100 which so far so good! I think it's a really good practice board! As a beginner that's all I need anyway! Workstations come ddoowwwnn the road! lol I'm also starting to see how much being a drummer is helping me with piano and not just tempo stuff either but with ear developement it helps you think of chord patterns in a different way! God bless you guys!!! :) :) :) ;) :D ;D ;D

Nice! and welcome to the other side.  I always find it interesting to see how people come from different instrumental backgrounds to a new instrument, and they always find a unique way to relate the new instrument back to their original, that makes it easier for them to learn.....drummer switching to piano, bass player switching to piano, guitar to bass, etc.  Pretty neat how those various instruments can give you a unique set of skills right off the bat, that will enhance how you approach the piano.....The as GK said, the percussive and tempo stuff, i'm sure bass players have a good ear for the bass and probably have an easier time building & hearing from the bottom up, etc.

Anyways, welcome Vince!

Im also new to piano.  I just got the Hal Leonard book and it really is good!  I thought these style books just had random licks, but this goes really in depth.  :o
