"F" you and other pulpit shockers
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:43:00 AM »
Have you ever heard something that makes your ears burn to hear over the pulpit.  Do you "blush" because of the little old ladies present, and are you sorry that had to hear such foolishness?  Recently I viewed a video of a Pastor making the new "F" word- forgive.  I understood his point although I did not agree with his method.  Some seem to think that adding a shock value to a message will get the attention of the crowd, but I think its a turn off.

What do you think?

What have you heard over the pulpit that should NEVER be stated in that context...or period?

I've often heard Praise and Worship leaders say, come on and let's make love to Jesus.  It makes my nephew blush.   :-[

Hmmm.....*wonders the difference between flippin' a phrase like 'F you' and changing the heart motive behind it and switching the heart motives of pagan practices* *kanyeshrug*

Saying that the root of orgin for the "f" word means...well ya know
So turning around and making it "forgive" is still not cool...or is it

Since we said in the other thread that pagan roots don't mean that we should go overboard...etc.

Get it now?

What do you think? I think it's foolishness. It's amazing what people hide behind the pulpit and say.

What have you heard over the pulpit that should NEVER be stated in that context...or period?
The most shocking thing I've heard from the pulpit was when a woman was describing how she masturbated with a cucumber toy. :o :o :o :o :o

Bruh, it's from playing the game a LOT, actually. Plus, since there's no penalty for placing non-words, I play around with different letter combinations until something sticks.  :D

Oh its the practice of "waiting" to be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  It is a custom that is practiced in many Pentecostal churches based on Acts 1:4.  Some conclude that this is no longer needed since the Holy Ghost has already been given to the believer, however many Pentecostal circles continue this practice to prepare the believer to receive the evidence.  (This might turn into another thread...but I kinda hope not...I've seen this get ugly on many sites).

Okay...I hope I answered your question.
