NFL, MLB & NBA Contraction
« on: July 09, 2011, 01:32:06 PM »
So as we know in the sports world, there's a lockout in 2 of the 3 major sports (NFL lockout should be over by end of July hopefully). In all 3 (but especially MLB and NBA) there is talk about contraction, which is basically getting rid of teams. Of the 3 sports, if you was the main person in charge, what 2-3 teams would you consider getting rid of?

In the NBA, I've heard that contraction is something they are seriously considering. Here's an article on (opinion) the 10 NBA teams that should be considered for contraction (teams include Hornets, 76ers, Bobcats, Clippers, Grizzlies, Raptors, Timberwolves, Kings, Hawks, and Cavaliers).

Honestly as far as the NBA I would consider getting rid of Minnesota Timberwolves and (reluctantly) the Charlotte Bobcats. Terrible seasons and just don't seem like they will ever be good. And this issue of lack of competitive balance is one of the big reasons why I think this lockout will cost the NBA at least 1 season.

As far as baseball, before this season I was thinking Pittsburgh Pirates but they may end up having a good season....SMH!! Besides that, idk.

NFL, Detroit Lions should be considered.

Personally, I don't like contraction because it eliminates jobs, but as far as the NBA, if this superteam era continues (2 to 3 stars playing on same team), contraction should be discussed even further. Again, that's why I think this lockout goes a year.

i don't think you should have a contraction based on the teams record

I think a better way would be to do it based on the teams profitability. which is not necessarily related to its record.
 or
I would like to see fewer teams in Cali

So places where teams are crowded

Good points. I would like to see less teams in CA (across sports period) which is why I don't favor the possibility of bringing an NFL team back to Los Angeles. They should get rid of Clippers from NBA. #thatisall

Get rid of the COWGIRLS!!!!! lol

What the?.....LOL!!!
