I wouldn't go as far as to use the word abhor, but I'm not a huge fan.
Unlike music ministry, dance ministry usually doesn't inspire praise or worship. It almost always results in the church sitting and watching, waiting till it's over, then clapping. It's like: "Oh that was a nice move. I like that outfit. Wow, she's flexible." The end.
I can name on one hand the amount of times a dance has actually drawn the congregation in and inspired praise/worship.
Totally agree.
And in my experience, when the dance inspired praise/worship, it was usually the song, not the dance.

I'll use the word abhor for mime. I really hate that stuff.
But I don't dislike liturgical dance if it is skillfully choreographed and skillfully performed WITH oil. I can't stand to see a bunch of unskilled folks prancing about repeating the same 3 steps over and over and over until the song fades out... that gets under my skin. But good liturgical dance, I enjoy. However, I do usually consider it more entertainment than ministry.
