I'm noticing that a lot of gospel artists and preachers (at least ALL - 100% - of the ones I follow) on Twitter will retweet a compliment someone gives them. If someone says they preached well, sang well, or they are blessed by the word or a concert or whatever, that artist/preacher will RT it.

Why is that? #mostlyrhetorical

Now thinking, its very annoying when you are trying to move forward but there are people who won't let stuff go and have no real purpose for holding on to them... how do we forget to leave stuff in the past but want people to leave stuff we do in the past.. I'm so glad God has made me forgiving................... #movingfoward

It strikes me as arrogant and self-serving even though they probably see it as an acknowledgement that the person has tagged them.  The better response, to me, would be to reply to the person with your own words of thanks or response to what they said.

On the other hand, Mary Mary retweeted the bad stuff people were saying too, LOL!

Idk how I see it. I guess it depends on the person for me. Like there's one preacher who RTs compliments but I know without a shadow of a doubt they are humble, approachable, etc.

Yeah I think I'd rather have a reply than the RT. But I totally agree with you, Ness.

And as for Mary Mary, I think that may have been a little self-serving too. A lot of times I see ppl play the pitiful, woe is me, 'can you believe s/he said that' line just to rally up supporters and encouraging words.

Now thinking: what if the snicker represented something else .... nice chocolaty and a bit on the nutty side ....
