Oh and some tablets don't have the same type of software capabilities that laptops have.
As a student, I will tell you this, if you're looking to buy one or the other and plan on doing any sort of work on them (school, church, employer, or otherwise), I would go with a laptop. I have both, but between school, email, church, and regular work, I definitely use the laptop far more than I use the iPad.
Edited: I forgot you'll be FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! in July, so the school component may be irrelevant.

Plus, you have a desktop, so you can always do your typing on that. I'd go with a tablet if I already had a desktop, don't travel a whole lot and don't need to do work while I travel.
