Good grief.
To me, this would be like me writing a book on the healthy benefits of eating vegetables and then some whack-job killing themselves by stuffing their face w/ raw broccoli and then choking to death.  ::)

Idk Dave. I kinda agree (especially in principle). But these people are saying that you don't need to "discipline" children, you need to train them. And they compare training children to how the Amish "train" their stubborn mules.

I'm just not sure.... I do certainly agree that the authors aren't responsible for what some lunatics do after reading their book. But I also don't think the book (from what I've seen thus far) is that sound, and I hate that it's supposedly Biblically based.

Here's the entire book transcribed. http://www.achristianhome.org/to_train_up_a_child.htm

Oh, I do think that there's some flawed Biblical interpretation on the part of the book's authors and probably some influences from other sources that might be out of the norm.
In watching the interview with the writers, I didn't get that they were bad people, but I think that may be a little misguided and too narrow-minded in what they see as "training up a child".
One may need to 'break' a mule in order for it to follow instructions (idk, I've never worked with a mule...), but I'd never want to 'break' a child.

Yeah, I totally agree.

And I didn't think they were bad people, either.

I agree with the above poster.
