My friend asked me how I felt about this. I told her I'd probably go to a Beyonce Concert myself. *shrug*

Not really, but I know it if were Jill Scott or any neo soul artists I'd wanna go.

True, I guess its because of the platform they have. Im pretty sure if people saw John P Kee at a Trey Songz concert, it wouldnt sit right with them because of the message he's sending, feel me. We are all called to walk in the light, but I do believe those who have that platform have to be extra mindful. I say this because my father is a pastor (just like 85% of LGM lol) and there is alot of things he wont entertain. Just my 2 mites.

Let me explain further....as I said I see what you're saying and yes the platform is important, however if that's the case than why is ok for Christians who don't have the platform to go to a concert like this but not ok for someone with the platform? To me that's a double standard. The mindset mostly (I don't fully agree with it but that's the mindset) today is that people, especially adults, are entitled to do whatever they please. Now personally you probably wouldn't see me at a Beyonce concert. And overall there are WAY more important issues that the Christian community needs to be mad at like poverty, the large distance between what is believed and what is practiced, and a dysfunctional government. They may have a point if Mary Mary is doing some foolish acting or something at the concert, but again this seems so petty to me.

True, I do agree that theyre far more important issues like all these "sow seed" etc type preachers, or homosexual in the pulpit. People try to make it a double standard, but it goes across the board. Honestly, did that even surprise anybody that it was Mary Mary? Oh well.

This is the problem when we automatically elevate entertainers to the status of ministers.  Many are not.  Some ministering may take place, but just because someone has talent which may be used for God's purposes does necessarily mean that they are called to the ministry in the sense that a bishop or evangelist or any levitical office is.  All of us, to some degree, are ministers of the gospel and we all have a certain sphere of influence.  The question that we have to ask ourselves is weather or not our actions and words reflect that we are who and what we say we are.  And as such, we need to be careful not to offend those who are not that strong in the faith.  For me, I could care less that Mary Mary went to see Beyonce' perform, but for some young person this could send a confusing message.

^^^^ And that's EXACTLY why I couldn't bring myself to post in this thread.

It just felt like a TMZ or National Enquirer teaser or something. Juicing up the headlines with smut to make people buy it - because we know people love smut like flies love.... Anyway...

Yeah, I knew there was a reason I liked you, VTG. ;D ;) :D

Very true. They do fit the market niche of Inspirational, rather than Gospel or Christian artists.

I might not be a rabid MaryMary fan, but going to someone else's concert is barely a controversy...

Being a Christian is the only platform you need for people to watch you and judge your actions. What you do with that platform, well..........................its up to you
