Skyrim update:

A villager mentioned to me that the Imperial Legion is accepting new recruits at a fortress named Solitude.  It's a fitting name because it's an elevated fortress on the other side of the country, so I started on my way.  I had a few encounters with bandits along the way, had to traverse near-whiteout conditions in a blizzard and was attacked by a few wolves but I eventually made it to Solitude.

Oh, I also met up with a few giants who quickly pwned me.  And I stumbled into a secluded house only to be crispy-crittered by a high-level dark mage who was none too happy with me barging into his home.  Just a few reminders that I have some leveling to do before I can deal with everyone in the game.

Anyway, after quite a while travelling I reach Solitude.  It's great when you reach a new area for the first time because after you've discovered a location you can Fast Travel there (meaning the next time I want to go there I can just click it on the map and I won't have to spend all that time travelling).  They gave me a little test.  There was an abandoned fortress in a strategic location and some bandits took the liberty of moving in.  The squatters must go and I was tasked with single-handedly clearing the place out.  As soon as I'm spotted by the watchmen at the fortress a few bandits came at me.  I have this sweet Bow of Embers that sets targets on fire.  I used that until they got close then switched to my handy sword and shield and did away with them.  There were a few tougher enemies in the fortress but nothing I couldn't handle.

I get back to Solitude, swear the oath of the Imperial Legion, receive my official Imperial Legion helmet, breastplate, greaves, boots, shield, etc, and I'm in.  Now I'm off on my first mission as a member.

I haven't even touched the main story yet.  I will.

Maybe after I join the College of Winterhold (mages guild).  Or the Thieves Guild.  I'll get to the main story eventually.  Probably.  Maybe.

Had loads of fun playing the multiplayer modes with my kids.  Even my daughters had a blast.  I stink, but that's great with the kids because they can't touch me in Madden.

Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

I had Skyrim in my HANDS tonight...and couldn't bring myself to make the purchase. Smh. Looks like a good game, though.

So engrossed in Skyrim it isn't even funny.  Was off work yesterday played from morning to evening.  And I NEVER do that kinda thing.

I've played for hours and it still seems like I haven't scratched the surface yet.  Truly, truly epic game.

For those of you that don't know, Naughty Dog is at work on a new title called 'The Last of Us'.  It's using the same animation engine from Uncharted 3.  The game has an 'I Am Legend' feel to it.

I play Tetris on my phone. (lol)  I haven't had a new system in a while. I still have Gamecube and PS2.  i want to get XBox 360 and Kinect to play Dance Central and Dance Central 2.  This winter break I will be playing "bootleg" versions of both games. (aka going to YT and dancing along.) I can't remember if there's a Black Ops for XBox, but I think there is.  I think I might wanna try that.  Idk if this was covered yet, but I hear there's a new XBox coming out.  I guess I'll wait til that come out. :-\

I wish I could play Skyrim all day...I finally saw that black dragon from the beginning of the game again!  It's getting good  ;D

one minor issue though: the gameplay starts to lag when your save file hits 8000 KB.

but yeah...that game is beyond awesome.  Makes FFXIII look like a waste of plastic...

In response, Bethesda has recommended a number of workarounds to hopefully remedy these issues.

One of the suggested workarounds includes clearing up your hard drive and leaving at least 2GB of free space. The company said this will “help the system memory work with the PS3 hard drive more effectively.” Freeing up even more space may result in a greater performance boost.

In addition to clearing up hard drive space, they also recommend players turn off the autosave feature, as it may cause ”temporary stuttering since the PS3 saves these files in the background.”

One of the final solutions for improving performance is to wait for time to pass in the game. “Using Wait or Rest options, passing time will clear up some of these. It depends how long you wait, it may take up to 30 days for some items. Saving, resetting, and loading after this will have the largest effect.”

If you are still encountering issues, Bethesda have offered up some more involved solutions, which include going into the PS3’s safe mode.

Turning off autosave works just fine for me since I save every chance I get.  It makes sense though.  Autosaving a 2MB file is one thing.  Autosaving a 10MB file is another.

I've killed about 5 dragons so far.  Fun stuff.  :)

Elder Scrolls III- Morrowind.

I know, I am about 9 years behind everyone else. :)

Pretty darn immersive game though.
