I want to share with the LGM community the announcement letter I sent to my 350 students taking my gospel music course. First of all I appreicate the owner of LGM allowing me to share with all of you for the past several years. I've always respected the moderators and those who have freely shared their talents and wisdom to all who have visited this site and added my comments where I felt they would help.

I'm indeed honored and count it a blessing to have the opportunity once again to share the knowledge of gospel musicianship through the technology of the Internet. As I look back over the past 11 years I've been able to share with you, I'm in awe of what I've witness transpire. From the first midi files, video files, online workbooks and live video chats I'm encouraged that my efforts have not been in vain. Many of you have expressed your appreciation for my courses and that you've been a blessing to your local church. Some of you are taking a chance on my course because you're dissatisfied with your current musician skill. I want everyone to know since 1989 I had you in mind but did not have the vehicle of technology to assist you. I still remember my early days as a musician wanting to learn but having no one to direct me. It's this reason I continue to provide a FREE service of church musician instruction. You may not play Carnegie Hall in NYC taking my course but you will please God and your church ministering to their musical needs.
This is my first official letter welcoming you back for our 2011 Fall Gospel Music Course. I hope you enjoyed our Youtube summer shed as much as I did recording and posting those videos. If you haven't seen them you can visit the Youtube link on my main page anytime. I'm continuing the current format from our 2010 course with a few added features. As posted I'm now on Skype and will be offering one on one video chat sessions for 5 minutes FREE for my registered students during the course. These video chats of course will be planned well in advance so that technique and skill questions can be answered and demonstrated. We have about 350 registered students across the world so we'll have to work out date a time issues since I'm on the east coast of the USA. I'm also offering 2-3 minute video lessons for registered students that I can email to you. The only software you will need is Apple Quicktime to view the video. These will cover again technique issues per your email request. A new course is being developed called "New Songs" which will cover all new and popular songs currently used in worship services. I will break them down into a lesson that you can download from the site and practice. I'm going to revamp my sheet music page for the advanced student taking my course so that you can practice the chord progressions I used in hymnal and gospel music.
As you can see I have a lot planned for our 2011 course. Let me know what you need to better support your music ministry and see if I can add it to my course. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. My previous course currently in session and I will be updating the new features in the coming weeks. Please let your other musician friends no about my course as well. I have a Facebook page and I'll be adding a Sound of Joy Music Course page where you can come and fellowship with other students taking the course. I'm on Twitter Keyboardman56 as well. My Skype name is SoundofJoy123.
musically yours,
Samuel Tolbert
