Does this kid have potential....or is this another Parent Fail ?!!

So this video is what I call the Doctor Office Praise Break...

My son takes his drumsticks EVERYWHERE...to go potty, to church, to the store,  bible study, daycare, and clearly to the doctor's office lol, and ultimately to bed with him...and he'll have a fit if you take them (at church we usually have to "borrow" them to get them away from him. He bangs on almost anything...

Everything you see my son does on his own. We have NEVER taught him anything.. I wonder if he really has potential or is it just me overseeing it because he's my son?? LOL What do you guys think LGM..if you listen closely he says "Hallelujah" then go "in" playing shout music!!! LOL

I would have someone start teaching him now if he has the attention span to learn. Otherwise I would teach him little by little as a game playing copycat.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

It's hard for me to tell.  Maybe after a few more years.  Right now I'm getting nothing.

Unless he's gonna be a left-handed drummer, he holding the sticks wrong, lol. Get him under a seasoned drummer quick so he can start to learn the right way to do things early.

And please take the sticks away from him in public. Church and home is fine. Out in public the sticks could get away from him and end up hurting someone.

well he is only 3 and he just so happens to be left handed LOL! We don't take them but we do make sure he's being safe..we generally take them away when he's in crowded areas but other than that he just carries them around...

I agree with the above poster.

From my observation, he has an idea about rhythm and kept a beat for a short period of time.  The fact that he is left-hand and for the most part held the sticks correctly is good.  Even if he wasn't left-hand, to know that you cross your hands, without someone telling you at 3 isn't a bad thing.

Get him a seasoned teacher, like T-block stated and go from there.  But "Do Not" and I repeat "Do Not", start going to church saying, "My baby wants to do a solo" and you know clearly he isn't ready for a drum set.

I agree with the above poster.

I also agree, but perhaps for a different reason.

I have a personal issue with parents who let their children make excessive noise or play with noisy/musical toys in public settings. No adult wants to hear all that racket in a public place - even if it sounds good. To me, it's rude and annoying. It's a nuisance. And it takes away my right as a patron to wait in a comfortable setting, whether I want to think, pray, mediate, chit chat with a friend who came along, read the Bible, listen to my iPod, etc.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

He isn't allowed to play them in public..especially not loudly..he carries them with him but he doesn't play them unless we give him the ok...I said he takes them everywhere...not plays them everywhere because I don't like to hear the loud noise myself which is why we tell him to let us "borrow" them or we'll try to distract him when we leave so that he forgets them..but he loves music and when he hears gospel music he wants to play..which is generally in the truck or at church

I think he's gonna be a great drummer regardless he's gonna start picking up things from other drummers as he gets older and he's just gonna better and better remember thats how most drummers start off especially gospel drummers but i agree with tblock get him under a seasoned drummer so he can learn the right way to play early. Good luck with everything
