While I don't see any problem with this.
What would happen if that was the only place that provided the service? Would it be okay then?
For example, if the only grocery store in town offered a 25% discount to anyone willing recite a verse from some other religion. Would it be okay?
In that case, I would look at it as a form of bullying or strong-arming someone into reciting a verse they may not even believe. Would God honor/bless/be glorified by such a practice? (<--- real question)
That sounds like a silly practice.
I agree it sounds silly.
I'm reminded of the time I went white water rafting in Tennessee in July. We went to a bbq restaurant, locally owned, and aside from an older couple, we were the only people there. The owner was so friendly to us, and pleasant, welcomed us, gave us a private room in the lower level and chit chatted with us for about 10 minutes about his town, rafting, bbq, etc. Then, he asked us what our religious beliefs were. I was the only 'saved' person there, though they all identify as Christians. So we all answered "Christian," and the guy then asked "what is the most amazing thing God has done for you?" That led to a 20-30 minute discussion with us about the Bible and stuff. Looking back, I can see that it was planned.
As much as I love the Lord, I was really uncomfortable and even a little offended. For one, my co-workers aren't really saved like that and I could see how uncomfortable they were. Secondly, we were there to eat and enjoy EACH OTHER'S company, not his. He was nice enough, and hilarious, but that's not what we went there for.
With that in mind, I pretty much frown on pushing Jesus on people in a place of business. But, I respect dude's right to do so. *shrug* whatever. Christians do all kinds of stuff...
