This woman is TOUGH!!! I was driving home from Springfield this evening and was listening to her on CSPAN.. She was giving a lecture at Chautauqua N.Y. I am not sure what it was about.. because it was almost over.. but what I caught of it was great.. so I had to come home and find out whop this woman is.. I have probably seen her or read some of her work before.. but this woman is brilliant and she bears watching.. a bright and shining star. GO GIRL GO!!!!!!

Yeah, I've been hearing about this all week.  There are many replies and follow ups to this article, but here are the main ones.

Joan Walsh of Salon.com says that she doesn't agree with Melissa.  She even goes as far as to say she and Melissa are friends.  However, that's seen as her saying, "I'm not racist.  I have black friends!"  Joan's article:  http://politics.salon.com/2011/09/26/white_liberals_obama/singleton/

Joan replies again via twitter saying that she's sorry for saying that they're friends and that she wasn't using it as a shield.

ALSO... Gene Lyons of salon.com weighed in on Melissa's article.  He was very offended by it and called her a photo negative version of the KKK and dismissed her intelligence by calling her a pretty face and saying she's just like Michelle Bachmann.  http://politics.salon.com/2011/09/29/obama_fights_republicans/singleton/

Afterwards a ton of people reply to him telling him how stupid he and his comparisons are.  Some even criticized salon.com for allowing the article to be published.

Obviously an intelligent, articulate and knowledgeable woman.  I could only listen to 15 minutes for the moment.  I'm trying to digest much of what went straight over my head.  I'm gonna have to listen to the first part a few times and do research to get a better understanding then move on with the video.  I now get a better understanding of how some students feel in math class.

I listened to the whole thing, admittedly while flipping back and forth between the Lions game and the Bills game.  I love the way she draws logical parallels to make her points.  I'll have to look for more of her lectures.

Yeah that's what I like about her.. You may not agree with everything she says.. but she lays it out in a clear and intelligent fashion.. You don't have to read between the lines with her.. and I think that she has some good points in the linked lecture..
