Yeah, I've been hearing about this all week. There are many replies and follow ups to this article, but here are the main ones.
Joan Walsh of Salon.com says that she doesn't agree with Melissa. She even goes as far as to say she and Melissa are friends. However, that's seen as her saying, "I'm not racist. I have black friends!" Joan's article:
http://politics.salon.com/2011/09/26/white_liberals_obama/singleton/Melissa replies to that on thenation.com by saying that she is shocked and upset that Joan would use the "black friend" card to dismiss the argument and prove she's not racist. She also mentions that they are not friends, but are friendly. Melissa's article:
http://www.thenation.com/blog/163629/epistemology-race-talkJoan replies again via twitter saying that she's sorry for saying that they're friends and that she wasn't using it as a shield.

ALSO... Gene Lyons of salon.com weighed in on Melissa's article. He was very offended by it and called her a photo negative version of the KKK and dismissed her intelligence by calling her a pretty face and saying she's just like Michelle Bachmann.
