Someone please answer this question for me
« on: March 26, 2005, 10:31:37 PM »
How do you read the notes and chord of songs given in this forum.  I have tried to play the Left hand chords and the right hand chords and for some reason they just don't match or make sense.  Sometimes the chords sound awful!!!!!!!!  Are they out of format when you post them or what?   For example:  You have a song like this............
F-Bb-Dd/Eb-Ab-C,F-Ab-Db,Eb-Ab-C,F-Ab-Dd  Now how do I play all these chords???

OR you may have something like this...........
L.H-Bb
R.H DFAC (C/CDF)  (E/CDEG)

Tell me what do I play??

Please be patient with me and somebody help me to understand this.

May God bless all...............Suddygirl

You're not alone sister. I also can't seem to figure them out too. Maybe somebody like B3wannabe should answer that question.

Ok Suddygirl:

Here you go - chords are posted for the left hand and the right hand. The
/ separates the left hand/right hand. If you are not familiar with chords and you try to play them other than the count of the song, they will sound as you put it "aweful."

For Example:

F-Bb-Dd/Eb-Ab-C,F-Ab-Db,Eb-Ab-C,F-Ab-Dd - could be filler chords because they are listed straight across.

If they are listed;
F-Bb-Dd/Eb-Ab-C  (Left hand 5-3-1/right hand 1-3-5)

My suggestion is this -
1. Learn your scales and chords in everykey before you try and tackle
   a song.
2. Or, practice the right hand first, then learn the left hand.
3. I would not try a song I'm not familiar with. You have to know the
song in order to play the chords.
4. Start out with something simple, like "Hallelujah."
5. It takes practice, it wouldn't happen overnite. Pray and practice
until you can see improvement. Don't practice 10 minutes and then
if nothing happens you give up.

If you have anymore questions, post them. But I would print out chord books on the site and start there.

Be blessed.
