Best headphones for bass player
« on: March 08, 2015, 04:38:22 PM »
I'm looking for a good set of in-ear headphones to use when I play my bass. $200 is my limit.

I use these:

Shure SE215

I got them because they fit in with my budget at the time and they do a decent job. If I had a little more to work with I would have considered these:

Shure SE 315

If you get them from GC spend the extra few bucks for the replacement thing.. Theyt are well made.. but when they fall out of your ear or you take them off and they fall to the ground and you step on them.. because you aren't used to them (ask me how I know this..) you will have to send them back to Shure.. and they have great customer service.. but if you have the plan go to where you got them or any GC (provided you got them from GC of course) and just replace them.

I am assuming you are going to or are already using Avioms.. which was why I got them.. they do the job. I still like to have a monitor in front of me as well though so I have a small 10" powered speaker that I use as a monitor with my Zoom B3 as a preamp.. That is what I use at church and for small to medium sized venues.

Any thoughts on beats earbuds? I know you're paying for the name but I have an apple gift card and I'd hate to waste it if they're no good.

I have a pair of Bose ie2 earbuds. The sound is great I'm just looking for something with a lot of bass.

What you want is something that will reproduce bass cleanly... the Shure's will do that,.. so will the Bose ie2 headphones.. Our lead guitarist uses them. If you are on budget the 215s will do very nicely.. None ofthose things will give you Earth shattering bass.. the physics just will not allow it.. but it will produce your bass cleanly and even if you EQ it a bit it will stay clean.. The major difference between the 215s and the 315s is the driver and the 315s have a slightly higher frequency range. If I had it to do again I'd probably get the 315s.
