I went to the movies last night.

That's pretty huge, considering I've been to the movie theater a total of 3 times, including yesterday, in the past 7 years. :)

I saw Safe House.

OAN, I saw a preview for another Bourne movie, but I didn't see Matt Damon in it. Any insight?

Was safe house any good? I may take my wife out to see..........................if she'll ever leave the house

Yes, if you like predictable action movies and car chases for no particular reason.

Movies are supposed to entertain, and 'Safe House' delivers in that regard.

Don't know if I'd take the wife unless she likes action movies or loves you that much.

Ryan Reynolds.

He was fun to watch... and extremely easy on the eyes. :)

How's your wife doing?

Yeah, I totally didn't understand the purpose of those car chases. I hate car chases anyway... no matter how good the movie, I don't understand how they never get a flat tire. *shrug*

And there were definitely a few predictable moments, even for a non-movie person like me. I figured out who the bad guy was from that person's first scene. I knew what would happen when they went to get the backpack from the locker. There was another scene I predicted but I can't figure out how to de-spoiler it... lol. The gf/train station scene was unrealistic. Or maybe that's just the black chick in me. It would NOT have gone down like that with me. The only thing that genuinely shocked me was finding out who the enemies were. That was like "oh snap, for real???" LOL (but even that was probably predictable for a movie-head).

RE RR, they're trying to put him in roles other than his typical rom-com schtick.  So far, it's passable.

As for the movie, yea, any movie-head was not surprised by any of that stuff either.

RE Matt Damon, did you like him before the 'Bourne' movies?  If so, I can understand why you'd be hesitant to like any future movies without him.  But, I think Renner will be just fine.

Very quiet lately. I've been trying to do things to cheer her up..she smiles but she is not herself. I figure I'll just keep trying.

Wait, whut? ?/? <----Just got that.

And, you might be.  Again, just be there. Don't try to make her laugh or anything as right now, nothing is funny to her.

Wifey and I ended up seeing that movie last night too.  I enjoyed it.  Yes, it had its predictable moments, but what movie doesn't nowadays?  I also saw the Bourne preview and was going to post about it this morning.  Looking forward to that.  That movie "Battleship" intrigues me as well.

What's funny, though, is we chose to go to the theater that was near where we ate.  It's one of those neighborhood theaters, so we knew it wouldn't be like our normal movie-going experience.  I should have seen the warning signs....

1. The tickets were only $14...Total!  I couldn't believe it!
2. After purchasing the tickets, my "stubs" were these thin paper receipts.
3. There was no ticket taker.  Shoot, there wasn't even a place for a ticket-taker.
4.  The theater had that old building smell...
5.  Though we ate prior to the movie, it's kinda tradition for us to get popcorn, so I stood in a long line for popcorn.  There was only ONE concession line.  Dude had a cash register, but was using a calculator to run up the totals!  At first, he was trying to calculate in his head.  He ends up giving the person (6 people ahead of me) MORE change than they were supposed to get.  He gets kinda flustered, apologizes profusely to everyone in line and leaves the counter (presumably, to get a manager), leaving the incorrect change on the counter...

I got out of line.  I was full anyway.

We go inside the theater, and we choose two of the 5 newer seats. (The row behind us had missing seats). The previews start, and I'm amazed at how antique this theater really is.  Remember the times before surround sound and HD?  Yeah, this theater was stuck in those times.  Shoot, it still had the original paint and carpet from those times!

So, we're enjoying the movie, and suddenly I start smelling weed!  Yes, weed!  I look around and can't see smoke or anyone puffing.  The smell dies down a bit, and then a little later, I smell it again.  It smelled more like someone just smoked it and came into the theater, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were smoking it IN the theater.

Wifey and I got a good laugh out of the whole experience.  Needless to say, I won't be going to that theater again- no matter how cheap the tickets are!

I guess this is where one's test as a spouse really comes into play. How supportive are you in the midst of a crisis.

;D ;D  Brother, they were probably blowing that smoke through the ventilation system to confuse you and prevent you from noticing the seats and paint or at least get you in the "I don't care" mode.  "Just relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"  ;D
