I went to the movies last night.
That's pretty huge, considering I've been to the movie theater a total of 3 times, including yesterday, in the past 7 years.
I saw Safe House.
OAN, I saw a preview for another Bourne movie, but I didn't see Matt Damon in it. Any insight?
Wifey and I ended up seeing that movie last night too. I enjoyed it. Yes, it had its predictable moments, but what movie doesn't nowadays? I also saw the Bourne preview and was going to post about it this morning. Looking forward to that. That movie "Battleship" intrigues me as well.
What's funny, though, is we chose to go to the theater that was near where we ate. It's one of those neighborhood theaters, so we knew it wouldn't be like our normal movie-going experience. I should have seen the warning signs....
1. The tickets were only $14...Total! I couldn't believe it!
2. After purchasing the tickets, my "stubs" were these thin paper receipts.
3. There was no ticket taker. Shoot, there wasn't even a place for a ticket-taker.
4. The theater had that old building smell...
5. Though we ate prior to the movie, it's kinda tradition for us to get popcorn, so I stood in a long line for popcorn. There was only ONE concession line. Dude had a cash register, but was using a calculator to run up the totals! At first, he was trying to calculate in his head. He ends up giving the person (6 people ahead of me) MORE change than they were supposed to get. He gets kinda flustered, apologizes profusely to everyone in line and leaves the counter (presumably, to get a manager), leaving the incorrect change on the counter...
I got out of line. I was full anyway.
We go inside the theater, and we choose two of the 5 newer seats. (The row behind us had
missing seats). The previews start, and I'm amazed at how antique this theater really is. Remember the times before surround sound and HD? Yeah, this theater was stuck in those times. Shoot, it still had the original paint and carpet from those times!
So, we're enjoying the movie, and suddenly I start smelling weed! Yes, weed! I look around and can't see smoke or anyone puffing. The smell dies down a bit, and then a little later, I smell it again. It smelled more like someone just smoked it and came into the theater, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were smoking it IN the theater.
Wifey and I got a good laugh out of the whole experience. Needless to say, I won't be going to that theater again- no matter how cheap the tickets are!
