NRC but I didnt get the promotion at work.
I care. Sorry to hear that... but I can tell you story after story of folks who didn't get the promotions they wanted, and it ended up working out for their good. I'm sure you already know that. But just in case you need to hear it: be encouraged. He's already got a plan for you, and it's for your good.
When I first got married I got a job working at Kings County Hospital making $380 per week. I was a temp.
I had a daughter on the way so I prayed, and prayed that I'd get hired permanently so I'd have some security. They even TRIED to hire me. We had a meeting wherein they discussed how things would change once I was made a perm employee. It never materialized.
I left and started working for a Japanese trade agency, again as a temp. Again I prayed that they'd hire me. They, too, tried to hire me, but before they could we were acquired by another company. One day my manager told me that the company who acquired us was sending over my replacement. I literally had to clear my desk and be out within an hour!
From there I went to work for a financial news agency making $42K per year as a temp. They DID hire me, but once I heard we were being acquired by another company (2nd time that happened to me!) I found my current job.
I started out as a temp here too. I was actually set to be released when, a month before my final day, my manager broke her leg. That allowed me to stay on and assume some of her responsibilities. I had to stay well past my 'final' day, and in that time some money opened up in the budget!!!!!!
Now I make more than twice what I made at my last job. Nice big bonus every year, work from home on Fridays, cool manager.
Thank GOD He didn't listen to me when I asked him to give me that $380 per week job 10yrs ago. Thank GOD the second company was acquired. Thank GOD the third company was acquired too! I hate to say it, but thank GOD my manager happened to be injured when she was so that I could stay on long enough for money to be available in the budget!
I was disappointed when I didn't get those jobs, but now I see. All things work together.
