NRC but I'm really glad that the powers that be have decided to tell us that student loans are one of our hot button issues this election season.

I need this to be a big issue. And my vote will go to the person who promises to send help to Zion! :D

Yes!

Hey Vonne, one of my friends also eats ice religiously.  She said it's because of an iron deficiency, if I remember correctly.  If you haven't already done so, please consider consulting a physician to see if you have that problem as well.
Yep I have anemia (iron deficiency) too.
Strike while the iron is hot!

Yep, I know two of them.  It's also a sign of anemia, which may be the same thing, lol.

Yeah, I'm anemic (iron and hemoglobin deficiencies) and craving ice is definitely a symptom.

I read a long time ago that eating ice long term isn't good for your teeth, so I stopped. I think eating crushed ice may not be as bad, but I'm just guessing.

Good choice to have your friend help you pick one out. Have fun! Those piano hands will be a great benefit to you on the bass.

As I'm a bit curious, could you let me know if that pawnshop carries ukuleles? I haven't seen one yet that does. They just have those annoying little poorly intonated mini-guitars. I mean, if they're going to sell children's guitars that size, they may as well sell a REAL instrument, ya know?

Ummm, sweetie, I don't even know what a ukulele looks like... :D

*and please don't go posting 37 ukulele pictures* :D :D :D

Wonder if anyone knowingly flies ValueJet since they changed their name.   I'll never forget.

In November, we're moving out of our current office into two offices on different sides of town.   This morning I was having visions of converting this building into a church.  :D

I think it stems from an incident I had with our building administrator last night.  I clearly need a space to set up my dubbing/editing materials, and because the only available office uses the same key as another office (which the user -first lady- does nothing in), they told me I could use it but can't have a key.  If they think I'm going to put my personal equipment somewhere where I can't have access without calling somebody, they crazy.  Something about people having the key were accessing doors they shouldn't have entered.  Even if they did enter, there's nothing to be gotten by entering the first lady's office.  Some nice home decor maybe...

Anyway, so that made me think of our building lay out, and when I started to visualize the lay out of our office, I thought I could draw up a floor plan that would be such a nice use of this space.

You know, I've always said that I want to learn the bass some day. Why not now?  I've got one at home. I got it for my son, but his interest comes and goes. Maybe if he sees me get better than him, he'll regain interest. Lol. Besides, our church can use a consistent bassist.

Cool. Let's learn together. What do you know thus far?

I know absolutely nothing more than how to hold it. I plan to buy a book over the weekend and maybe look for some starter videos. I don't even know the names of the notes. :-[

I always wondered why first ladies needed offices. I remember having that discussion with someone at GKC (not the pastor OR the FL) who told me that Lady A needed an office. I was like WHY? For what??? (At that time, she served as the FL and p&w leader). I wasn't trying to be a jerk, I just really didn't get the point. (Unless the FL does a lot of counseling at the church, and in that case, at that time, she didn't).

Anyway, I agree with you. Why can't they just re-key the lock? You (or they) can buy one from Walmart for super cheap. Problem solved.

The building administrator is a difficult person, and she doesn't want me to use the office so she's making up things that she feels will stop me.  I spoke to my pastor, and this is not his heart at all, so I'm cool.  I will make space at the house for my little operation and when it builds up and becomes a proven benefit to the church and members, I will restate my case in writing.   She's a very difficult person, but I feel like God has placed this project in my hands, so he will see that it goes forward as it should.

Sad....when people in the church cause more trouble and persecution than those outside it...

One of the things I teach in leadership workshops is "there's power in your yes." I find that administrators and lots of other people with authority abuse that authority by saying 'no' for no reason other than just because they can. I did it myself when I was first starting out, and it wasn't until God showed me what I was doing that I realized it. I was good at it, too. Would act like I was so sorry to have to say no, like I truly wished there was something I could do... smh. Thank God for deliverance.

But you have the right approach. Patience truly is a virtue (and fruit of the spirit). :)

Happened to be day 3 of a fast when I talked to her.  I think God just gave me grace.  I was way more calm than my usual, lol.  What I didn't know, was my pastor was in his office across the hall, lol.  His car was gone, so I had no idea he was there and could hear us, lol.

I've been hearing a lot about skinny jeans lately.  Would this be what we once called straight-legged jeans?
