Cool. Let's learn together. What do you know thus far?

I know absolutely nothing more than how to hold it. I plan to buy a book over the weekend and maybe look for some starter videos. I don't even know the names of the notes. :-[
Most of what I know comes directly as a result of playing the keyboard. I know the name of each string and the concept of the fret board. But, I've never applied any of what I know to actually playing. I'm looking forward to being able to plug in and start playing one Sunday soon!

I've been hearing a lot about skinny jeans lately.  Would this be what we once called straight-legged jeans?

Yes - they taper toward the ankles - the opposite of 'boot-cut', I think. They were called 'skinny' on the eBay listing, but are plus-sized. Am just glad they fit, especially the leg length (have short legs).

A B C D E F G   Class 1 over.

Smartie pants!!! >:(

I found a video series last night, btw. I watched part 1 and then put part 2 on to fall asleep to. I'll watch part 2 again today. And then I'm gonna have to watch all of them all over again once I get my bass.

Anyway, I like the video I watched because it's truly for beginners (like REAL beginners). So many stuff you see out there "for beginners" assumes that people have some sort of knowledge, so if you're like me and you have no knowledge at all, it doesn't work for you. But this guy, his Part 1 (the entire 7+ minute video) is just about identifying the parts of a bass. That was it. And that was what I needed.

Part 2 is about fingering and stroking and stuff.

I had started with the scales (on my app) but that wasn't a good place to start for someone who doesn't even know what the notes are. So after I get the basics down, I'll go back to the scales. I guess... Idk. This is all so preliminary since I don't even have the bass yet... but when I get it, I'll know how to hold it, what the parts are called, and how to hit the E, A, D, and G strings. :D
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

I'd suggest you learn some basic piano theory as well. I believe that will help the bass learning process go by more smoothly. After all, the piano is also a string instrument. LGM got you covered on that! ;)

Wow B_X, bet that don't feel too good..... now while the stuff that I have posted stuff that that truly nobody really cares about ('cept for me of course  ;)), something like this is a little more serious (maybe not the end of the world, but breaking a toe can't be a good thing).  How is it coming along?  Whose butt were you kicking that resulted in the broken little toe?

I love and hate when ppl get asked to sing and they act like they have a sore throat or something and they explain that they are hoarse then proceed to take us all in singing like it is their last time ever.  Funny and annoying at the same time. #mixedfeelings
Love a word that comes and goes.. But few ppl really know, what it means to really love somebody.

NRC, but I'm sorry.

I didn't know that it would offend you.  I didn't think you'd mind.  I see now that I didn't take your feelings into consideration.

So again, I'm sorry.

I'm sorry.......

Really frustrated by the drummers at our church. I wish they would stop being so cheap and hire somebody.

This is one of the worst things in music: a drummer that can't drum. I just hate that!

If they are kids you may need to train them. Then only use the ones who practice.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

My sister is our drummer.  She's a phenomenal singer, but I get the feeling she only plays the drums because we don't have anyone else.  She isn't a terrible drummer, but she doesn't practice and doesn't really care about being better.  When she's great drummers she gets discouraged and I just wanna kick her.

If you want to be better; PRACTICE.  Moping when you see a better drummer won't do you any good.

One of them is a kid. I'ma try to help  him out, but he does not seem that motivated.

This is one of the worst things in music: a drummer that can't drum. I just hate that!

lol, yeah man

do they have the bread to do that?

People have money for what they value. If they valued the music ministry more, they'd invest it. I'm sure we could find somebody decent for $100 a Sunday.
