Because it's a per lb deal. The bag would be $3 or $4 if it were only 1lb. Not that anyone cares tho.

I think he has probably only bought them in those little individual size bags (which I've never seen before, but I'm sure they exist somewhere on earth) or in a fruit salad. Yeah, probably the latter. I guess.
