I have a question.
I haven't really been following this train stuff, but I can't help but see the pics. Is this some sort of festival or something that's going to end eventually, or are we always going to see train pics from now until forever? Like are these pics a tribute to something that's happening this year, like an anniversary or something? Or are they just random pics, news-related, always gonna be something new to share?
The heritage thing ended, Funk is just hanging on for dear life, lol.
Well....yes, there will be no new additions to the heritage fleet and this will likely be my last (I
almost promise) post about them. I though it was a pretty cool pic and almost posted this in the random pictures thread, but since I've already bombarded you all with them here, I decided to continue the bombardment. But July 3rd and 4th is
'The Celebration At The Station' event at the NC Museum of Transportation' in Spencer that will feature these units. So after the 4th of July, the units will be sent out into the system to go about their daily duties and will likely remain in their special paint for a few years (btw, the paint they use can cost up to $55.00 a gallon!!!).
Haha! Now that really reminds me of Thomas and Friends. Cool stuff. I didn't know they actually did that for real. LOL the trains have very "Transformers"-looking "faces".
The roundhouse and turntable facilities are holdovers from the steam locomotive era. Diesels don't need to be turned and will perform the same weather running forwards or backwards. In fact, for a long time the Norfolk Southern had designated the long end of its locomotives as the "front".
