Great news everyone....I have more stuff that nobody really cares about to share with you

! This 1990 photo from my own personal collection shows a former B&O SD50 leading an empty coal train near Hyattsville, MD. The B&O ceased to exist as a corporate entity in 1987 as it was folded into CSX Transportation. The SD50 locomotives are of some historical significance for several reasons:
* They were the last new locomotives to be delivered in the Chessie System paint scheme.
* Of the 144 units purchased by CSX Corp., the 20 that were assigned to the B&O were the last ever B&O locomotives to be delivered (#8595 was the last unit - the unit I captured was the 2nd to last). Of course, the B&O itself was America's first common-carrier.
* They were numbered in numerical sequence with the Seaboard System Railroad's SD50's which was an early sign that an eventual consolidation of CSX's railroads was imminent.
