The only preset I use is the Ab on the lower manual and sometimes the A preset.

lol, sorry for hijacking. It's hard to talk about one setting without talking about others.

The first setting (888000000), is ok. I would use it just when I'm not playing the lead and I want to be smooth, and not too harsh like 8888000000 can be. i will also usually use it with a little of the  1' drawbar just to add some flavor. It would also sound good for some Brooklyn style chords, again with the 1' bar at about 6 maybe with a little reverb if possible. It's not a setting that I use often though.

good post.

888000000 with percussion is good to use for quick solos and fill ins, again for when you don't want to be harsh, like on ballads or something.

You can also get a very similar sound by using 008860000. You will just have to play an octave lower. You might have to make adjust the 2 2/3 stop to get it how you want it, as settings sound different on different organs an in different rooms

D;what do you use for chords on the lowest part of the lower manual?I have not found the "magic" yet for the lowest 2 octaves.

Try 848 for comping and bass;for many years I just used 888(Jimmy S) until I read about 848.It gives a nice comp sound and seems to drive the bass line better.

Glad you mentioned pedals;I've never really like the pedals (soundwise).I've always "looked" for the plucked sound more like an acoustic/funk bass.I
think B Dennerlien has her pedals midi'd to  a Muse Receptor. That's the pedal sound I'm looking for, clarity, sustain -J Smith's  recordings spoile me;the balance in his lines. On some of the X 66/77 series-one nice feature was the bass.

Trek ll has a cool mod for a line out.Hope I didn't "jack" this on you D-kinda mixing live/recording/mods etc..

Nice stuff D;I was playing around and found this(unless I jacked it from you lol)

315883007(starting from 336866330)  try it with root triads in lowest octave. It seems to work well with everything I tried on upper manual.

Hey D;btw you + 13(posting presets)- a simple thing-push the 1st 2 bars' in(the sub-fundamentals) all the way AND you have a whole new sound!

It's been a while since I tried any "new "sounds."

A suggestion for the too brite percussion on the C2(?) with the mod-check out what tube goes in that organs ' circuit(whichever  the mod taps into)and see if you can put a "softer" tube in.On some of the AU or AX tubes-one can have more "bite".On my B3;the percussion has been kind of "rattling" due to tube noise-time to put the spare one in.I think I replaced that one 5-7 years ago-so it may be due.

Or-the same -when your percussion goes soft-look for a brighter tube-just make sure it's the correct one!

The cool thing with having the last bar out-on the B drawbar set on the upper manual-is you get 2 setting in one. With percussion "off" it sounds, with it "on" the circuit is used  for the "ping".Very useful, mostly I use 888-----8  or 8888----8 on the B bars-add percussion or C3 sets up J Smith or Charlie Earland..

I came accross two settings that
'i tried out today and I think they are very useful
I will release these prior to the monday

because I learned them independently from my list. there for
these are free

the first is the setting
trina trine used on her shout in Ab
888888880

the second is what the call melvin crispell
posted here and everywhere on the net

but I thought I would co-sign it here on my thread as a very good setting

888800008

Melvin also uses 888880008, it makes it sound more Brooklyn

I want to have mine rewired so that I can use the 1' drawbar with percussion. That would sound awesome

I don't know if rewiring would allow that bar to play since something in the contact circuit is used. But;if you add some of the 1 st black bar-1+3/5 (?) you can get that effect.

Trek ll has a kit for adding percussion-maybe that could be used on a different preset?

sounds like "put your hand in the hand " lol!!! Nice bro

I've been playing with the 404-it does have a mellow sound-I like(as I think 13 said) to add a bit from the other whte bars-maybe 30456--12.

What do you use for the foot bass? That's an area (pedals) to maybe include in this thread?

great stuff!!

It should be noted that if your organ has not been well maintained your won't fully appreciate the drawbar settings posted. Many organs have had the tracII installed and the traditional preamp removed :( . My father is a Hammond Organ servicer for almost 45 years and I speak from experiience working with him if the organ is not right no drawbar setting will help you get the sound a good organ produces.
I love music, any kind of music.
