Google can track you whether you have an account or not. If you have internet, you can be tracked.

Yes, Google can send personalized ads to a specific IP address, but it cannot know who the person is. While it is not totally private, at least it is restricted to one specific IP address.

If you sign in with Google and search, it can track and send you personalized ads and get your data no matter what PC you are using.

Or in your case, Mac...

Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

Reads your emails, too... I sent some emails to some folks about getting their flyers printed, and the very next second ads started popping up about printing flyers.

I have been getting banner ads for this or that checking account from this or that bank in my Gmail because I have been getting emails from this or that bank for an interview. I haven't been irritated because I love Gmail and the ads are so small and inconspicuous that I don't really notice them.

It's just not a good feeling. Just like the FB privacy invasion techniques. I mean, I guess they're making it so that when you go out into the www, it's like stepping out your front door and you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. I hate it, but it is what it is, I guess.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

It worked out good for me in one instance.  I looked at the Health Master and went to order it, but when I saw the total after the Nevada tax and shipping I backed out.  For like 2 month after that I'd get Healthmaster ads on Youtube, google, and gmail, but then one day they cut the price by 1/4th and offered free shipping.  I decided to get it then.

You have raised a very interesting point. I suppose you are not being blindly monitored. I know that there are firms out there who specialize in data-mining, so they will try and find a way to get you to buy products based on your behavior. If they see that you have clicked the ad several times without buying, they may introduce a sort of deal or price drop.

In a way, we can game the system too.

nothing on the internet is private

privacy on the internet breaks the internet in order for it to work it has to know who everyone is point blank

this just reminded me of a funny story about privacy

every time you search for a website some search engines (google) keep track of what you searched to provide analytics.

Well shortly after my church's website went live someone did a few searches for a particular young lady at our church followed up by searches of if that young lady was married LOL!!! priceless

anyway, point of the story is everything on the internet is tracked just the same that every car that goes through an intersection that uses cameras to change lights is also tracked.
