I put no stock in these kinds of lists as they are usually created to generate buzz and controversy rather than try to rate musicians based on subjective and objective data.

I mean, Jam Master Jay is #10?  ::)

A lot of the rest of the list is made up of what many of my guitar playing friends would call a who's who of "Underachievement guitarists"; slackers, down-tuned-one-finger chord players, noise makers, etc...w/ Kurt Cobain as the king.

Sketch, as far as Hendrix...for years I didn't "get" him either. Just saw him as another drugged-up stoner from the '60s.
Then I watched a few documentaries and listened to the songs that they DON'T play on the radio.
I finally got him. He was an amazing musician, imho.

Yeah....for a minute, I though they may have been referring to some hidden talent that he had.  Don't get me wrong; I love some Run DMC,  but it does stretch the limits of creative license to include Jay on the list.

Dave, can you point out the documentary you are talking about? I honestly also don't really get Hendrix.

There are several out there.

Jimi Hendrix Documentary

Jimi Hendrix: His Story

There's another more-recently-made documentary that the Biography Channel created. It includes a lot of never before seen nor heard footage and narration based on letters and diaries that Jimi himself wrote. Bootsy Collins did the narration.
It's called "Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child", but I can't find a link to it at all other than this:

to be honest, a lot of Skrillex's stuff translates to guitar and even sounds like he's copping guitar type riffs. he was also a rock musician before he started doing electronic music.

not saying he should be on a top guitarists list, but it isn't as ludicrous as it would appear...

I wouldn't say they are useless. They provide exposure and topics for discussion on these guitarists.

And, yeah, I noticed Skrillex's tunes use a lot of guitarish riffage. I guess dubstep is electronic metal. But still... at least they put him at the bottom of the list.
Well okay then.I just saw Prince,in concert. His rythm guitar playing. Is the best i ever heard in my LIFE.Brothers,i truly mean that ;)

YW.  I've been M.I.A., because my wife started working again.  We pretty much pass each other during the week and I have my boys.  So... when I'm not rehearsing or working... I'm super daddy!   ;D I'm trying to be more active though.  Not just read the posts.

Thank you.  God answers prayer, bru.  I prayed for years for a good teacher... and God brought me back up here and sat me underneath some great guitar players.  Who knew Kentucky was a quartet state?  Oh, and I had to look up that "certain dude". ;)  I forgot about'em.  Oh well...could've been worse.
God Bless!!
