Jesus is real - Basics added parts
« Reply #1 on: March 17, 2009, 10:46:28 PM »
Old school?...John P. Key, would be basically part of the song, unless you add the classical part he does, with the choir...if thats what you mean?  I'd have to listen again for that, not to many choir's I've played with did that portion.

Other than that it would start like this...

Key of Eb
run...
/C, /Bb,...
/G, /Gb, /F, /Eb, /C, /F,

F-C-Eb/A-D-Eb
(hold)/A-D-Eb (hits)

Bb/Ab-C-Eb
(hold)/Ab-C-Eb (hits)

(not the words...on intro)
Bb/Ab-C-Eb - Jes-
Bb/Ab-C-Eb - -us
D/Ab-D-F - is
Eb/Bb-Db-Eb-G - real

G/Bb-Db-Eb-G
G/Bb-Db-Eb-G
Ab-Eb-Gb/C-Eb-Gb-Ab
Ab-Eb-Gb/C-Eb-Gb-Ab
A-Eb-G/C-Eb-Gb-A
A-Eb-G/C-Eb-Gb-A
Bb-F-Ab/C-Eb-Gb-Bb (4x)
D/C-D-F-Bb

Into Jesus is Real (verse)

While I've seen a lot of versions and you can do it using the descending Eb scale as described in the video, it's not staying true to the original baseline used.  I've also saw PianoClubHouse's version which I believe is the version that John P. Kee used in later years when he re-did the song.  Anyone of them can be used because the basics are pretty much the same, I was just posting the basics from the original version because I have yet to see them posted anywhere.  Maybe I'll do a midi of the original, I don't know about doing a video lesson because I don't really have the setup, but all of the vid's I've seen will help anyone trying to learn the song.

In the intro when you go from the EbM7/F to the EbAug7/F, it is not there in the original and there were a few more minor chord & rhythm changes that were added to the revision; and you caught them all and are spot on in the revised version.... :)

The drummer and one of the background singers I could recognize were little kids on the original version...I had both versions (live performances) on video, but I don't know where they are now.

For theory purposes and it can be called either way and sometimes I don't call out the larger chords for teaching purposes as you did.  The first chord you and I mentioned is really an F13 and the second chord is a F13+11
